A Generation with No Education

Any developed nation in the world has many things to pride itself with: GDP, economy, technological advance, its neuclear capacity, etc. Intelligent nations however, are more concerned with its youth because it is these young children who will keep the country going well into the future. For example, they do research to see what is the most healthy environment for a baby even before it is born. Wether they should listen to Mozart for music or ZZ Top. They do research on social development and the education of that child. They want to expand the capacity of the brain. Thus, now young children at the age of three can web surf and do things that adults can not even do.

Here in the great United State of America, we pride ourselves in the gazillion season of American Idol, and the unbelievable success of Hannah Montana. We are happy with our X-BOX 360 and our PS3s. We love our Pokemon, Manga, Sailor Moon etc. We are so proud of our Spiderman, Batman, IronMan, Superman and all the unlrealistic stuff we can imagine and not even imagine.

Sure all of this is for entertainment purposes only. However, when children are sitting infront of the TV all day which they are because schools are not keeping them busy with academic materials, all they see is this nonsense that fills their head. They see drunk stars, DUIs, stars leaving rehab, going back to rehab. . . again. Stars getting married in Las Vegas and divorcing 24 hours later. They see stars going to jail and leaving it. They see stars getting pregnant and stars dying becaused they overdosed. They see the world in all its chaos and then they dream they can fly like superman or batman or even Spiderman waking up to reality that is worse than the movies or tv shows.

Three young women come to mind when I think of stars who are corrupting our youth: Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan. There is no doubt to the beauty of these women and some might even claim that they have a talent of some source. However, when it comes to intelligence, morale or a sense of responsilibity, there is none. These ladies do not know that once they became stars, they earned the responsilbity of being in the public eye all the time and they have to act somewhat ladylike because other girls are watching and admiring them.

Sure, they are young and do not know better but that does not mean to kill yourself and why the resort to all the drugs and the alcohol? How difficult your life is when you are making millions of dollars a day and everyone is so enamored by your beauty that they would love to do anything you ask for? I understand it is not easy but it is not that complicated or difficult either.

Britney Spears has been involved with the entertainment industry since the early age of eight. She was featured in the Disney Channel and also in other Broadway productions. In 1998 her album "Baby One More Time" brought her international success and infinite amount of fame and money. Since then she produced five albums which succeeded phenomenally. Since then she also has been married twice, conceived two babies, been to many drug facilities,appeared naked in tabloids, almost killed her two children and shaved her head. They only trauma that I could find in her life was the break up with Justin Timberlake after four years of being together. Some rumors however claim that they broke up due to her infidelity.

Paris Hilton, grand-daughter to the Hilton Hotel founder. She is basically born into wealth. A wealthy child with no apparent problems. From 2002 till 2005 she was engaged twice, once to a model and the second time to a Greek shipping heir. Both times the engagement was called off. During that time also, her famous sex tape was surfaced on websites and her constant partying and drinking patterns were the talk of all media. However, it was not until 2007 that her bad behavior caught up with her when she was sentenced to jail after violating her probation many times.

Lindsay Lohan, actress, model, singer since the age of 3. She also comes from an upper middle class family. Although her father was arrested twice for fraud,her mother was a successful analyst and later became her manager. While her movie career is not that expansive, her disastrous party career is immense. This young lady was admitted to rehab more than three times. She was involved in three car accidents that were caused by cocaine or alcohol. She was arrested twice for DUIs and spent an evening in jail with ten community service days.

So who is our youth looking up to? Drugs addicts, alcoholics, really bad drivers and just really weird, irresponsible people. And these people are dictating our youth's life because they are their idols. The result: the ultimate corruption of our youth, the lack of responsible role models and a real education. Imagine if our country was ran one day by Paris, Britney and Lindsay. We already experienced the effects of what happens of a president who "used to" do cocaine. Let us not repeat that. Because I do not think Superman will come and help us this time around.
