If you are looking for a German Restaurant while in Hinesville, Georgia or you are in the Savannah area try the Rosenhof Restaurant at 103 Midway St, Hinesville, GA 31313 (912) 876-2191. I have read the reviews online for this restaurant and while it does have mixed reviews, our family thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant and the food.

My parents were down from New York State for my son's twentieth birthday so we had a large party of nine. We did call ahead for seating and they accommodated us nicely. The atmosphere in this restaurant is very much of what I remember in Germany when my son was born twenty years ago. They have the large dark tables with benches and large sturdy chairs and the café curtains in the windows.

I remembered quite a few of the items on the menu at the Rosenhof from our time in Germany. My daughters and I selected a meal that had a variety of dishes on it to share for our meal. It included a salad and roll as well as a schnitzel, yager schnitzel and a wurst along with fries. Yager schnitzel was always one of my favorites and I did very much enjoy their version of this dish. Their cucumber salad and potato salad was also very good as well. Other family members enjoyed a variety of dishes to include a wonderful curry wurst and various schnitzels. All at our table were very happy with what they received, to include the spaghetti ordered off the kids menu.

The highlight of the dinner was of course the dessert of Black Forest Cake. I have to admit that I opted to share with my daughters so I only got a bite, but it was very good and everyone was raving about it. It was complete with the cherries and rich chocolate.

The service for such a large party anywhere is always a bit slow, but I think they did a wonderful job. While it did take a bit longer than average, it was not an overly long wait, and all our food was what we ordered. I do believe though we did end up with an extra french fry. Everything was eaten though and thoroughly enjoyed.

Over all I think this restaurant is worth a try. While the price is not one that we could afford on a regular basis, it was wonderful for that special occasion. The service, atmosphere and food were worth it. And remember if you do try out the Rosenhof be sure to order the dessert!

I've never eaten German food, but this certainly encourages me to give it a try. Great article!
