A Ghost Gas Station Haunting in Parma, Ohio?

How News Outlets are Reporting the Story

So where do blue ghosts hang out normally? In Parma, Ohio, it appears to be at the gas station. There's been recent news and speculation that a "blue blob" caught on a surveillance camera is in all actuality a ghost hanging out near the pumps. A bewildered worker at the Marathon Gas Station claims he saw the bluish cloud floating in the parking lot on the surveillance camera last Sunday. The blue cloud remained floating around the pump area for a good 30 minutes before it landed on a car windshield and then floated away for good.

6abc.com out of Philadelphia provides several images from the surveillance camera which show still shots of the blue mass floating in different spots near the gas station pumps. The phenomenon has now started to draw attention from media as well as motorists who want to stop by and check out the footage of the ghost. According to WKYT of Kentucky, dozens of people are heading to the gas station which is located in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. Motorists have been speculating everything "from claims it's just a plastic bag to an angelic presence, turning non-believers into believers".

One motorist on the WKYT news report said he believed the gas station may have been built on top of an old Indian burial ground. According to the Wikipedia entry on Parma, Ohio, during the Cold War Parma housed Nike missiles in underground silos. It currently has a population of over 85,000 people (as of 2000 census). Its most famous residents include Chef Boyardee and several current NHL players. It's also been a corporate hub for companies such as Cox Cable, Union Carbide and General Motors. It's history makes no mention of infamous murder cases or Indian burials, so possibly this is all just a matter of science.

Scientific explanations of ghost sightings in the past have ranged from witnesses having sleep disorders to the idea proposed by Robert Matthews in his article "Science Wrecks a Good Ghost Story" back in 1999. Matthews proposed that what people think are ghosts are really just the "result of very low frequency sound waves trapped inside buildings". However, this blue mass is appearing outside of a building and is visible to everyone thanks to the videotape recording. It could also be merely a prank or hoax played by someone, such as a blue flashlight or laser type pointer device. In this age of technology, it could also be that someone has hacked their way into the surveillance feed, which appears on a computer monitor in the video footage. Either way, WKMG of Orlando reports that the gas station clerk said the ghost has not returned since flying off, and he is the happy for that fact.

So is this a friendly Casper gas station ghost, or merely some sort of scientifically-explained mass on a video camera? You decide. Watch the video here at Gizmodo.com.

Wow, grew up in Parma & drove past that area often. Never once creeped out there. My family is from Parma too, and I've never heard of any ancient indian history. The nike missiles exist in a park that's clearly labeled "Nike Park," well last I was by that area it was clearly labeled. Nike park is near the old underground railroad house, miles West of where this phenomenon is occurring, now maybe that could generate some ghost stories.

Think this is a relatively new visitor/phenomenon.

I lived in Parma and know there are indian caves by Parmatown Mall. I played in them back in the 50s and early 60s. there as cave writing and indian head arrows. The gas station could be buried on an indian grave site
