When I met my boyfriend, he was a friend of my brother, and was 3 years older than I. He was certainly not my type, but when I looked in his eyes, I fell completely in love with him. I was 18 years old, and I had to have him. I openly lusted after him, my older brother told him he could not hook up with me, I was 'forbidden'. I knew he liked me too, but he respected my brother very much. He held my hand at movies, and under tables when my brother was around. He called me, stopped by often, and was very polite. However, his eyes told me how he really felt.
About four months later, we were at a party, my brother, about 8 friends, him and I. I needed to walk out to my car, which was parked really far away. It was dark, and we were in the country. My brother said " I will walk you out there," but he was really drunk. His gorgeous friend said "Its OK, I will walk her out, you are too drunk ." We walked out to my car, and he was quiet. As we were walking back he said "Come here for a second, lets smoke a cigarette before we go in." We sat down and started smoking. He kept looking at me. I felt so shy all of the sudden. I had almost given up on the idea of loving him, I didn't think we would be together. I had been feeling so helplessly in love, and so hopeless about love. He took my hand, and said " I really.... Uh, you know, he does not want me to date you. I know he is looking out for you, but I really care for you." I moved a little closer to him I said " I am an adult, you know? What if I really want to be with you?" With that he kissed me, and held me and said " I want to see you tomorrow, just you." We held hands and walked back to the party. My drunk older brother was upset, he didn't like us openly displaying our feelings. I knew I loved this guy, he was really a wonderful young man. I admired his loyalty to my brother, but his heart prevailed. You can't chose who you love.
We have been together for 9 years and 5 months. We are still as in love as we were when we first met. He says he believes in love at first sight too. He fell in love with me that day too. For the months we could not be together, we have never been apart a day since. When you look into that special persons eyes for the first time, there is either a spark, or there is not a spark
