A Glee Project Recap

The Glee Project is down to the final five contestants who are competing for an appearance in Glee Season III. In a moment of aggravation and true conviction, Cameron decided that it was time for him to go home despite the encouragement of show writer Ryan Murphy.

What did you miss on the Glee Project? Why was Cameron in tears and calling his mother? Last weeks' episode revolved around tenacity. Cameron, who is a devout Christian, had one of the other cast members give him a kiss on the lips while performing one of their duets. This went against Cameron's personal beliefs and he was taken aback by the kiss. He called his mother in tears looking for guidance.

I thought this was rather noble of him to stand by his beliefs and not give in to the demands of peer pressure. In last night's episode, the theme was sexuality. Cameron was paired off with Hannah this time. The writers wanted to have Cameron and Hannah Kiss in their scene, but Cameron refused to do this. While in the Last Chance Auditions, Ryan Murphy told Cameron that he would like to write a part for a character with his conviction and moral beliefs. He asked Cameron what he was to do if he needed to write a scene with him kissing a girl. Cameron broke down in tears and said this is not really the place for him to be, and he thought it was time for him to go home. The other contenders were more talented than he, and they deserved their opportunity.

In an unprecedented act, Ryan Murphy goes back stage and talks to Cameron to try and convince him to stay. His efforts are without merit though, as Cameron is standing by his decision to leave.

The cast member who was not going to be called back was Damian who I thought did a nice rendition of Danny Boy. Ryan Murphy did not think much of his performance. He said that Damian did not put enough soul into the number. It is still anybody's game, but the competition is definitely heating up.

The remaining seekers of the prize are Hannah, Alex, Damian, Lindsay, and Sam. I think this will end up being a competition between Sam and Hannah, but all of the cast members have the potential to be the next member of New Directions. For all you Gleeks out there, keep watching and don't forget to experience the Glee Concert in 3D in theaters August 12th, 2011.
