A Good Friday Poem

Hoping in the Dark

Sharie C
The Light of the world has been crucified.
Darkness drowns evening sky, night seems eternal.

Gray clouds thicken the heavens,
and angels weep,
as rain
falls
from above
like endless tears,
soaking barren earth with sorrow,
sharing in the soul deep sadness.

The disciples wait,
in hollow stillness,
heartbroken, confused, yet expectant.

The faithful disciples wait,
breathlessly,
for the promise,
to be fulfilled on the third day.

They wait for their Savior, Jesus Christ,
to conquer death's grasp.

His bleeding, broken body surrendered,
a priceless gift given in love,
they believe,
hoping in the unseen Kingdom,
knowing they will see Christ again,
as triumphant King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
