One should be a good listener always when it comes to discussions or giving a speech. When you are going to deliver a speech you need to pay attention to other speakers. You should give a special consideration particularly to the guest speakers. The can provide you knowledge about many significant things. There may be some points which the other speakers have already covered before your turn. You can include some extra things in your speech, in addition to their views, before you deliver the speech.

You should keep away from discomforting the other speakers. Many other speakers might have used the same sources of information as you did. It is no use to go over the same matter as dealt by the earlier speakers, as this can create embarrassment for you. You have to give due consideration to the response of your audience.

You may use the guidelines given below when you have to deliver a speech.

Study your listeners. You will get an idea what your listeners expect to hear and will not tell about that.

Interaction with your audience: You may visit the entrance area to welcome the audience courteously. You can overcome any unfriendliness between you and your addressees. You should put effort to make the listeners happy. This will help to create the atmosphere that they receive the speech with more constructive response.

Get a suggestion: It is most important to get a suggestion about the outlook of the people you are going to address. It is a better way of knowing kind of your audience.

Advance preparations: Do not put any excuses to the audience id you did nor prepare well. They will not like that. All events are planned sufficiently in advance. Accordingly, the speakers are notified. They are given plenty of time to get ready for their speech.

Know your subject: You need to do a lot of research on topic of your speech Collect eh information about your listeners: like who they are where do they come from. You can now understand the intensity and depth of the preparation required.

Read the faces of listeners: Generally audience will not speak if they are unhappy about it. It is important to be able to study their facial expressions or body language to make out how they are taking your speech. If the audience has stressed muscles your speech is ineffective to hook up with them. They are not able to follow your points. Or they may have some questions to put to you. If you find a situation like that, better to give an opportunity to them and ask them if they have any questions.

Getting connected to audience: You need to keep a good connection with your audience. To do that you must find some knowledgeable, appealing and enjoyable speaker.

Way to respond to the questions: If audience puts you a question, then first make sure that you have understood the question well. Reply to the question in a courteous and enlightening way. This is very important way, particularly, when the question is on some sensitive issue. You may answer the question showing absolute earnestness and try to break the ice with some important wordings.

Better way to finish: You should practice the speech at home. If you feel that the speech is lengthy as compared to the allotted time, cut it short and remove the needless parts. Try to avoid the use of difficult words in your speech. The audience does not want that, as they will find it difficult to understand and may get tired and lose interest to listen.

If you follow these tips you can be a good speaker. You and your audience will feel comfortable with each other.
