A Great Ability

My Reasons Why Writing is One of the Greatest Abilities Ever Given to Us

Even before many of us began to speak we were writing. Oh, it's true all right. Whether it was writing on the kitchen walls (you know the non-washable paint and the oil based finger paints) or whether it was simply coloring books and crayons, before we could form full sentences we were already attempting to communicate by writing.

I believe writing is one of the greatest gifts ever given to man. The ability to etch in stone, write on paper or even paint on cave walls has given generation after generation the ability to pass on what each had seen and experienced. Many of our great literary works were simply the words written by someone, now famous, long ago when perhaps they were just 'jotting' thoughts on paper. Our constitution itself lies "iron-clad" and protected in our Nation's Capital as the written laws that not only guide this country but set it in motion at it's inception.

Historical accounts are revered, great literary works are protected and writings are forever held on paper for all eyes to see. We have today the greatest speeches of all time because someone wrote them down, giving us today the wonderful words that we would have never gotten to experience other wise. Think about it!

Without writing, a persons life would only be remembered as long as someone else retained, and relayed, the memory of it. Events in history would be forgotten or the stories mis-told without a written account.

I know I'm supposed to be writing something to impress potential employers, but I hope also to impress potential writers. Write! Keep a journal, post a blog, write short stories, novels, poems or what ever else you can write well, but what ever you do, don't stop writing!

Absolutely I would like to write for AC's partner companies and I hope they see something within this writing that would persuade them to believe I would give them quality work. It's what I love about this ability! Whatever potential employers are looking for, we can write about. It's great!

Now I know there are those who feel they don't have ability to write. Maybe composition isn't one of their strong points and their wording isn't always proper and grammatically correct. But I say if you write close to your heart, the words will fall into place. I'm not one to write about what it's like to be on a space shuttle. I can imagine it, write what I think it would be like or even relay what others have reported it to be like, but I can't put my heart in that kind of work. I've never been on a space shuttle. But I can write about where I have been! I can write about seeing God change lives. I can write about helping alcoholics put down the bottle and about drug addicts pulling the needle out of their arm once and for all. I can write about that abused child that thought no one loved them, suddenly finding out someone does. I can write about electrical installations and troubleshooting, and I can produce content about what it takes to be a first time author. I can write about the joys and heartaches of parenting and I can laugh with you about your children while you cry with me about mine. I can pen down short poems that rhyme and I can write editorials about the world that we live in today.

I can write about love and anguish, laughter and sadness, elation and dejection. I can pen words containing hope and I can write down realities of failure. Because of this amazing ability I can remember my thoughts, and those shared by others, my entire life when otherwise they would have been forgotten within the hour. It is the ability by which we know where we came from and by which we can tell those in the future the same.

Yes this is an amazing ability, possessed by man and enjoyed by all.

I am truly thankful for this ability to write and I believe it is one of the greatest gifts ever given.

Now, go write!
