Many of us remember Tachina Arnold (Chris' Mother) from Martin Lawrence's sitcom, "Martin" and will always remember her from "House Party". Her comedic talent goes beyond natural ability, and it seems as if she may have been a perfect rendition of Chris' real life mother. Tachina grabs the role as Chris' (played by Tyler James Williams) mother and takes it as her own. I'll never forget the episode when she wanted to be the neighborhood watch club president. It was a relative episode because so many mothers look for a chance to be signified as an important person within their community, and I could definitely relate to that because I've seen it many times before in the real world.
We can remember Terry Clews (Chris' Father) in Ice Cube's movie "Friday After Next". He has a face for comedy. This man is a natural at making people laugh. His facial expressions and character build up makes it even more easier to visualize how Chris Rock's real life father may have been. I can remember an episode where he had to go out in a horrible snow storm to get young Chris from school, which had been reported as closed due to bad weather. This episode truly touched me because it showed that no matter how tough things got, or how hard times may have been, there was no stopping him from being there for his family.
Although I cannot recall anything that the siblings, his younger brother Drew (played by Tequan Richmond), and his younger sister Tonya (played by Imani Hakim) ever appeared in before this program, but they add to the combination of great cast members.
I am so relieved to have a television program that everyday families can relate to. It's not always easy out here in the world, and nothing ever comes easy. This program depicts that, and it also gives it's viewers the opportunity to see that even though things are going to get bad, and are bad, there is always a brighter side. No matter how tough things got for their family financially, they still managed to eat a home cooked meal (even if it wasn't tasty), had both parents there to motivate, mold and support the three children growing up in the Rock home.
And what I like most about the program, is how Chris Rock narrates it. Not only does he tell what's going on during the episode, but he includes modern day situations and occurrences into his narration. And at the end of every episode, Chris still loses; it's hilarious how even though he learns lessons in life, gains experiences in love and always gets the bad guy, he still gets the short end of the stick! An all-around program for an all-around world-who can beat that..? "Everybody Hates Chris" is produced by 3 Art Entertainment and Paramount Studios.
