This resort features a host of restaurants. There are steakhouses, Mexican, Italian, and traditional American fare dining establishments along with coffee stands, a build your own burger hut, pizza parlor, and sushi stand just to name a few. If you feel like a good workout at the gym, Gaylord has a huge facility featuring both indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs. After a good workout, you can relax in the sauna before receiving a first-class massage at their in-house spa. The resort also has numerous shopping establishments, bars, and even a nightclub all under one roof. In fact, the place is so large, you can take a boat ride within the hotel on a delta flatboat. It is incredible. If you prefer a little education while on a trip, there are also cooking classes and other learning activities that family members can enjoy. The indoor fountains provide a sensational view, and you will find your hotel room comfortable and cozy.
During the holiday season, the entire Gaylord resort is decorated with beautiful Christmas decorations on the inside and outside of the property. This, in my opinion, is what makes the property so special. At night, the place is transformed into an even greater winter wonderland. The giant hotel property has thousands of flowers, lights, decorations, and Christmas trees for your viewing pleasure. However, the highlight of my visit was a trip to ICE. ICE is a feature entertainment exhibit located on the property. The 2010 theme was Santa Claus is Coming to town. We entered the six degree facility and quickly bundled up in the giant parkas that the resort provided. As we walked from room to room we had the chance to view giant ice sculptures of characters from the Santa Claus movie. There was even a couple of ice slides that the kids could play on in the facility. Although it was extremely cold, the joy and excitement can rapidly cause you to forget that you are in a deep freeze. Once we exited the freezing temperatures, there was hot chocolate waiting as we turned our coats back in. Overall, it was a great time and I highly recommend the entire trip. My only advice is that you should call ahead and try to get the best deals possible. Being that this is a luxury resort, some of the pricing is a bit steep. Nonetheless, our family will be saving our money to make sure we make this place a holiday tradition next Christmas season.
