This is a great outdoor activity for kids located in Huntington Beach, CA. at the Central Park east of the Library. It's called the Huntington Beach Adventure Playground. This outdoor entertainment starts June 22 and lasts till August 13. Your child can enjoy doing various activities such as: Raft around the pond, Whiz down the zip line, Totter down the rope bridge, Construct with hammers and saws, and splash down the mud slide. This is an inexpensive outing only costing $3.00 per child, and adults are free.

The recommended ages are 5-12 but any little one is more than welcome to play. It is mandatory that children under the age of 10 have adult supervision, especially while using the tire swing or building with the tools.

You can even celebrate your child's birthday at the Adventure Playground. You are more than welcome to make reservations if you plan on inviting 10 or more people. They recommend that you make them in advance to ensure there is enough space. They only accommodate parties on Saturdays, and offer one table for each group. Feel free to make reservations at: (714) 842-7442. You can even make early reservations by calling Huntington Beach Community Services: (714) 536-5486.

Due to safety reasons, all children are required to wear closed-toe tennis shoes. Unfortunately those wearing less then that will be not be allowed to play. This is including: water shoes, jelly shoes, or sandals. This playground is set up to where the children will get dirty. Bring an extra pair of clothes, a bag, and a towel. The park will have showers and a changing area available. For the parents, you are more than welcome to bring chairs and blankets while watching your child play. Also, bring a lunch for you and the little ones. They sell candy and soda at a small fee as well.

The park is more than grateful when receiving wood donations. If you have any extra 2X4 & 4X4 plywood, pallets, or any wood used to assemble tree house structures, feel free to donate it. It is tax deductable.

Also right next door to the Adventure Playground is the Public Library that offers great activities for children of all ages. This summer they are offering a variety of events on different days that you and your child could attend.

1.
Family Evening Story Time: Located at the Tabby Storytime Theater on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free of charge! Wear your pajamas, and cuddle up to listen to 30 minutes of summertime stories, songs, puppets and more! Refreshments are presented by the National Charity League.

2. Festival of Folktales: Located at the Central Library's Circle Driveway on Tuesday, June 22, 2009. It lasts from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is one of the best events the Library offers. This event happens to fall on the same day as the opening of the Summer Reading Program. It will give you an opportunity to see what it offers. It's recommended for ages 2-12 and even young adult readers. You can purchase tickets on the same day as the festival from 11:00 a.m. up until 2:30 p.m. or you can get them earlier in the Children's Department.
