A Great Place to Stay - The Beachcomber Resort

P.S. Oliver
When traveling to St. Petersburg, Florida one might look for a beachfront hotel with great amenities, clean rooms and courteous service. One need not look any further than the Beachcomber Resort on Gulf Boulevard. The Beachcomber offers great hotel rooms with mini-fridges and coffee machines, as well as efficiencies with full kitchens. With two hotel pools, one doesn't need to be a beach bum to cool off on a hot day in St. Pete. Just steps away from the larger of the two pools one can get a drink at Jimmy B's Beach Bar. Poolside service is also available. Jimmy B's bar offers daily entertainment a few feet away from the sandy beach of St. Pete.

For those who want to catch up on the latest game (or if the finicky Florida weather doesn't cooperate with your travel plans), you can play a game of pool, darts or trivia in Players' Sports Bar near the hotel lobby. The Beachcomber is one of the few hotels I have been through which not only sports multiple bars (with service at 3 bars available at Jimmy B's) but also strives for the highest level of quality. Bartenders are friendly yet professional and actually know how to mix drinks (a rare feature in bars these days).

Let's not forget the beaches! With a clean, powdery sand under your feet, the smell of saltwater in your nostrils and the cry of seagulls, the moment you step onto the beach you will know that you are on vacation. Other beachfront hotel bars are within walking distance from the entrance to Jimmy B's. Immediately next door, Shell's Restaurant and the Swigwam Bar provide the perfect tropical atmosphere as you escape the hot sun for a nice cold drink (I recommend the Mai Tai).

Located conveniently across the street from a convenience store, a swimsuit store and a sandwich shop, you'll find everything you need when you stay in the Beachcomber Resort. A courtesy computer is available for guests for a $5 fee for the duration of your stay just in case you can't leave the rest of the world behind when you go on vacation. Pools are open until 10 P.M. but do not have a lifeguard available, meaning a late night dip after a night of drinking might not be the brightest move. However for individuals, couples and families who want great accommodations in a centrally located resort just steps away from the sandy St. Pete Beaches, I can see no reason to stay anywhere else but the Beachcomber Resort.
