A Great Time with the Kids in Virginia Beach, VA for Under $25

F Flores
Many people will visit Virginia Beach, Virginia, this summer and drop lots of hard earned money. While a splurge here and there can be fun, especially during a family vacation, there are lots of fun things you can do that do not cost a dime!

Kid-Friendly Food

While kids can often find something to nibble on at the $25 per person seafood and crab leg buffets, chances are they really are not eating anywhere near $25 worth of food. Why not feed the whole family for that price and still keep it special and vacation worthy? For around $25 dollars, a family of four can enjoy pizza and soda at the Planet Pizza located on Atlantic Avenue in front of the 9th Street Parking Garage. In addition to delicious pizza, this restaurant is conveniently located across the street from Mahi Mah's restaurant, which sponsors outdoor entertainment every night during the summer. Pizza and a family dance party can make for a really fun evening!

In terms of kid-friendly food, there is also a Chuck E. Cheese located on Lynnhaven Boulevard, which is not even a 10 minute drive from the oceanfront. During the week, this location is virtually deserted! Check out coupon deals on the Chuck E. Cheese website, as they generally run assorted deals that will not only feed the family for under $25, but will also provide a large number of tokens good on their video games and rides. This is an especially good value on days that the beach or other outdoor plans get rained out.

Kid-Friendly Fun

Virginia Beach is full of beautifully-preserved, natural areas, and they are not all beach. Be sure not to miss Mount Trashmore, located just off of interstate 264, about 5 minutes from the oceanfront. In an exemplary model of conservation, Virginia Beach went green back in the 1970's and created a grassy hill from refuse. Stop by a nearby Target or Kmart and pick up the best $10 kite you can find. Stop by a Zero's or Subway with the remaining $25, and enjoy a kite-flying picnic on top of the hill! Not into flying a kite? Check out the trails at First Landing State Park, complete with replica Native American village! The trails go on for miles, and kids can feel that they are the first to stumble upon a secret village from the past! Add hot dogs and Slurpees from a local 7-11 or tasty organic sandwiches from The Fresh Market on Laskin Road for less than $20 to feed hungry hikers.
