One of the finest tourist locations in the northern part of the Philippines can be found in Alaminos Pangasinan and it is called the Hundred Islands National Park. It is alleged that Hundred Islands is around 2 million years old. These islands are sprinkled down the Lingayen Gulf.

The province known as Pangasinan is located approximately 155 miles north of the city of Manila. If you are in Manila, visitors can reach this province in a drive of about 5 hours. During your drive, you will go through a province by the name of Pampanga, Tarlac. Pangasinan is a large manufacturer of rice, crafts made of bamboo, salt, mangoes as well as milk fish. The name of this province was used from the word "asin" which in Tagalog means salt.

Not all of the islands have beautiful sand beaches but are comprised of abundant plants and vegetation along with rocks. Other islands have caves along with trees. Currently only 3 islands have been able to house visitors. The first is Quezon Island which is the largest of the 3 and offers tourists decks with beautiful views as well as picnic areas with lavatories. The second is a place called Children's Island where visitors can access camping sites and areas to sleep that have lavatories as well. The third is a location known as Governor Island which has sites where tourists can settle for an extended period of time. Note that the lodging on these islands are the minimum which includes Nipa huts as well as duplexes with straightforward amenities.

Starting at the bus terminal that is located in Alaminos, tourists can take a 10 to 15 minute ride and arrive at the Lucap Wharf. At the Lucap Wharf, there are an assortment of water sports services that are available for rent which include activities such as windsurfing, para sailing, kayaking, fishing, snorkeling as well as jet skiing. Tourists can also locate boats that will take them to the islands.

There is a superstitious idea that the natives accept as true is that anyone who visits Hundred Islands initially should kiss the Princess Urduja statue before embarking on their journey to the island. It is said that this will guard you. There are 4 islands that are about 15 to 20 minutes away from Lucap Wharf. They are Sulpot Island, Hernandez Island, Monkey Island as well as Abad Santos Island. The three islands that can house visitors will take about 25 to 45 minutes to reach.
