A Great Way to End This Insane Year and Bring in the New Year

How to Let Your Mind Escape into a Day of Ultimate, Slap-happy, Mayhem of Comedy

David Lindberg
I simply can not think of a better way to end this year of years and endless roller coaster ride of emotions than to slip away into the insanity of pure laughter! I have been an huge fan and worshiper of The Three Stooges since I was probably 10 years old, when they were actually making a comeback from their early success of movie shorts. I can literally remember being that young and rolling on the living room floor with belly aching laughter as I watched Pittsburgh's own Paul Shannon's Adventure Time television show every afternoon, after school.

I have to say that I wasn't a very disciplined student and I usually put off doing my homework until the last minute, but I have lifelong memories of laughter from these masters of physical comedy.

When I worked for many years at my previous corporate job, one of my best friends at work was also a huge Stooge fan and we would just walk past each other and mention a short phrase from any of the Stooge episodes and the other would answer part of the phrase and we would begin laughing.

I do not watch them often but every once in a while, when stress is building, I will remember to get out a VHS tape of the Stooges or watch them on Hulu for a quick release of all of that stress, with laughter. Even if I think I am not that into it, it only takes a few minutes of Moe smacking Curly around or some quick witty phrases to get me going. Before I know it, the troubles of the world are gone. Laughter truly is some of the best medicine!

Check out the AMC website for the episodes and schedule of the Stooge fest, or just turn AMC on anytime during the New Year's Eve and Day and give it a few minutes to see if you find yourself in a fit of laughter.

The Three Stooges may not be everyone's cup of tea, as many dismiss them as senseless antics, but you will assuredly enjoy this event if you were ever a Stooge fan.

Teacher: "If I gave you a dollar, and your father gave you a dollar, how much money would you have?"
Stooge: "One dollar"
Teacher: "Young man, you don't know your arithmetic!"
Stooge: "You don't know my father!"
