Barbeque Nation is an exclusive vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian restaurant. The choice of food is drawn from Mediterranean, American, Oriental and Asian origin.
The restaurant is open from 12:30pm to 4:30pm for lunch and 7:30pm to 11:30pm for dinner. Since the restaurant has two sittings each for lunch and dinner, make sure that you arrive on time. If planning to go on a weekend, make sure you book a day in advance especially if you are a big group. Once a table gets occupied, the diners tend to leave only at closing time.
The décor is modeled after a European country dining experience, with a lot of wood and exposed brick walls. The variety in the starters and the main course is rotated everyday, so if you have a favorite that you must absolutely have, call in to check if it is on the menu.
The ambience is warm, friendly and relaxing. Dining here is a pleasure as you can dine leisurely.
Undoubtedly, the spotlight is firmly fixed on the grill.
As they have a fixed menu and the menu changes everyday, I guess it all depends on your luck. I however would suggest that you eat more of the starters than the main course.
The fixed menu comprises of 5 vegetarian starters and 5 non-vegetarian starters, 1 vegetarian soup and 1 non-vegetarian soup, 4-non vegetarian and 6 vegetarian dishes in main course with roti and naan, 3 non-vegetarian and 5 vegetarian salads & 7 desserts.
You can enjoy a live grill at your table with unlimited helpings of the starters. So, you don't have to go through the menu, wait for service time and limit yourself to the portions. Just settle down and the skewers start flowing to your table. We were seated at a table for 10 indoors and we hardly realized that the personal grills kept getting re-filled without us so much as batting our eye lids! The staff was pretty enthusiastic. Another important thing all restaurant staff should be aware of is knowledge of what they serve. The attendants here were completely at ease with all dishes being served, replete with correct pronunciations and always accompanied by warm and eager smiles.
We gorged on the starters.
Tongue tickling, delectable kebabs, fantastic variety and it just kept coming. Mushrooms, mixed vegetables, potatoes, prawns, fish, mutton seekh kebabs, chicken tikkas, chicken drumsticks ...all sizes and shapes but each one vying to be a favorite.
The prawns were as fresh and delicious as you can possibly imagine, cooked to perfection. The chicken tikkas too were finger licking good. Veggies, don't get me wrong, there's a fairly decent selection for you too. Its just that I wasn't paying too much attention to it.
The main course has ample choice for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, but was quite mediocre, consisting of breads, mutton roganjosh, chicken biryani, pasta, crabs, rice, dal and so on, and so were the desserts.
The whole idea is to gorge on the barbecued starters and stuff yourself with it. Skip the main course as its nothing worth a mention.
Inspite of every table having a grill you don´t feel the heat due to their excellent exhaust system. There is some outdoor seating as well though sitting inside is much more comfortable.
A perfect place for someone who loves grilled food. Strictly recommended; especially with the reasonable (a good value for money at Rs 563 per head including taxes) price tag it carries.
Get ready to sizzle!
