Sarris Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlour

Located about 18 miles southwest of downtown Pittsburgh in Canonsburg, this quaint ice cream shop is part of the world famous Sarris Chocolate Factory and Store. The shop features old fashioned ice cream sodas and floats that are made just like the ones from the original soda fountain days. The Sarris Big Tyme Sundae is one of the most popular items on the menu. It includes three scoops of ice cream with a choice of toppings, whipped cream and a cherry. The milk chocolate and dark chocolate hardcap toppings made from Sarris chocolate are sure to delight chocolate lovers. There are 26 flavors of ice cream to choose from along with a few seasonal favorites like egg nog, pumpkin pecan and strawberry cheesecake. The Sarris Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlour is a great place to visit for an ice cream treat after a day of shopping at the Tanger Outlets located just 3 miles away. Hours of Operation: Monday-Saturday 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM. Sunday 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM

Bruster's Real Ice Cream

This family owned Western Pennsylvania business opened its first store in 1989 and now there are over 200 in the country and 30 in the Pittsburgh area. Bruster's makes over 140 homemade flavors of ice cream that are featured on a rotating basis so there is always a new flavor every time you stop for ice cream. Bruster's serves cones, sundaes, shakes, floats, sodas, blasts and smoothies. They also make customized ice cream cakes and pies for any occasion. At Bruster's, every Thursday is Banana Thursday. Bring in a banana and get ½ off a banana split. Baby cones and doggie or kitty sundaes are free. Bruster's is open seven days a week from 11:30 AM - 9:00 PM.

Remember When

This seasonal ice cream shop that closes for the winter is home to Pittsburgh's Largest Ice Cream Cone. Remember When features 18 delicious and one of kind flavors like Celebration Cake made with cake batter ice cream, pieces of cake, icing and sprinkles or Never Too Much Chocolate made with chocolate ice cream, chocolate chips, peanut butter and pieces of brownie, just to name a few. Remember When is located on Chartiers Avenue in Pittsburgh's West End, just minutes from the West End Circle, Downtown Pittsburgh, Heinz Field and PNC Park.

Dave & Andy's Homemade Ice Cream

Located in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, Dave & Andy's Homemade Ice Cream is popular with the college crowd and is in walking distance of the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University and Carlow University. Dave & Andy's is well known for their specialty flavors like Purple Cow (raspberry ice cream with chocolate swirls) and Bovinity Divinity (chocolate ice cream, coconut ice cream with white and dark chocolate chunks, pecans and roasted almonds). Dave and Andy also make homemade waffle cones and cakes. Frequent visitors know to look for the M&M at the bottom of the cone that keeps the ice cream from dripping. USA Today ranks Dave & Andy's as one of the top ten non-chain ice cream shops in the country. Hours of operation: Monday-Friday 11:30 AM -10:00 PM, Saturday-Sunday 12:00 PM -10:00 PM.

Klavon's 28th Street Ice Cream Parlor

This 1920's style soda fountain is located in the heart of the Strip District. Klavon's serves cones, milkshakes, sodas, malts, and egg creams. Their sundaes are well known in Pittsburgh including the Tin Ceiling Sundae, Turtle Sundae and the Super Bowl Sundae with eight scoops of ice cream. Klavon's also features their own flavored whip cream in vanilla, chocolate, amaretto and a "flavor of the day." There is also a lunch menu with a selection of soups, salads and sandwiches. Winter hours of operation: Monday - Friday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Closed Sundays in the winter. Summer hours of operation: Monday & Tuesday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday - Friday 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
