A Guide to the Best Makeup for Hot Weather

Hot weather makeup is a necessity if you are going on a tropical cruise or vacationing in any hot weather states like Florida, California, or Texas, to name a few. If you live in a hot weather location, then you know that makeup that can stand up to severe heat and humidity is essential or you will be left with melted goo on your face leaving nasty little ugly streaks around your eyes and lips. There is no need for a mess on your face, get the right products for the heat. I have lived my entire life in "hot states" and my current recommendations have been tested all over beautiful Galveston Island, Texas and during camping trips from the Keys to the Panhandle of Florida for your benefit.

Lips: For great lips in hot weather, you will need to line your lips and then fill in the entire lip area with liner too if you want your lip color to last and not bleed around your lips. Four generations of my family, from my grandmother to my daughter, have all found that Clinique Defining Liners in neutral shades - the closest shade to matching the inside color of your lips - work the best. You will need to complete your lips with some color and moisture, Clinique Lipsticks and Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers work great for color. Burt's Bee is offering a special for 3 lipstick shimmers and a clutch for $14.99 at Target. I like to top my lips off with Farmer's Market Strawberry Jam Lip Gloss or Body Shop Lip Butter in Mango or other balms for a moisture seal and shine. If you want your color to stay on and your lips to be moist and luscious, liner, lip color, and lip gloss or balm will be the right application to keep your lips perfect. Lip glosses, balms, and butters will prevent your lips from drying out, chapping, and bleeding in the intense heat, sun, and/or saltwater.

Eyes: For eyes to look great through hot weather, humidity, rain, or waves, mascara must be waterproof. Maybelline has several waterproof options to choose from offering volume or lash length or both. Classic Black in the Colossal with Mega Brush works well, even in the salt water surf.

Skin: Due to the heat, makeup all over the skin and face will need to be minimal. If you must cover up under-eye circles, Prescriptives camouflage holds up well in the heat when applied with a concealer brush. This is a top choice among many Florida make up artists, photographers, and models for outdoor photoshoots - this is how to get the flawless face seen in professional prints. The cream retails for $17.50 and it worth every penny. Since it's a camouflage cream, it is not used on the whole face but only the dark circles and other spots that you want to make disappear. This cream lasts for years too. Powder, mineral powder, or bronzers of your choice can be applied after the cream dries, these work better than full face creams, cakes, and gels because they are subject to cracking, creasing, streaking, and even dripping depending on sweat or moisture in the air.

If you can go without under-eye circle coverage, then either a moisturizer with tint like Organic wear® 100% Natural Origin Tinted Moisturizer which is only $9.95 regular priced or a bronzer like Organic wear® 100% Natural Origin Bronzer work well. The tint provides an SPF and some even color to your face, the bronzer add a nice glow. The bronzer can also be used for blush.
