A Guide to Boxing Classes in Lewisville, Texas

If you're thinking about taking up boxing, you may want to make sure it's what you really want. It takes a special person to be able to handle the training and work it takes to go for a round in the ring. For this person, there's the Jimenez boxing club. It's a local class given at the Memorial Park Recreation Center. For a week long class that gets you familiar with the basics of boxing, it's a deal at just $28. The club is open to boys and girls 8+ and there are 3 sets of classes in the fall. You can check them out at www.cityoflewisville.com in the WOW (Wonderful Opportunities Waiting) section.

If you're pretty sure that boxing is something you want to try, then commit to a longer program. Trainer's Elite in Addison has both Junior and Executive Boxing Clubs ideal for young and old. TE offers a first class for free and several programs to choose from. Go to www.trainserselite.net for details.

If you know that boxing is for you and you're ready to work really hard, a better place might be George Prevalsky's Boxing and Muay Thai club in Coppell. They feature a 24 class beginners program that focuses solely on the fundamentals like footwork, training and bag work. Then you still have intermediate and hard to go through. World class fighters train here and they do give private lessons. Also, Prevalsky's offers one class for free just to make sure it's for you, so go to www.muaythaiboxing.com and schedule your first training session.

Regardless of the level you choose, be ready for some serious sweating. Boxers have to have top notch endurance, strength and balance. All of which will be put to the test should you decide to find yourself lacing up.
