The Senkin Sake Brewery in Japan just celebrated their 200th year and the fact that they use restored wooden barrels to make their sake to bring back the warm Japanese culture give their sakes a deep earthy taste and aroma. One to try from this brewery that will barely put a dent in your wallet is Kaishu which you can directly order for $10 for a 500ml bottle or $6 or a 300ml bottle. This is a wonderful sake to go with seafood dishes as it has a light clean taste with a hint of peaches and cream making it slightly sweet. You can order a bottle of this sake buy clicking here.
Toshimaya Sake Co. offers another inexpensive sake choice in its Suwa No Ryujin sake which is only $11 for a 335ml bottle. This sake has a fresh creamy flavor with a subtle flavor of rice. It is a very clean and dry sake that is excellent with seafood and the slender design of the bottle will look lovely at your next dinner party. To order this sake click here.
The Honbo Shuzo Co. also has a great and different sake to offer. Their Sakurajima Imo Shochu will offer a variety in it's flavor. This $14, 750ml bottle has an expanding fragrance of fine sweet potatoes with a soft, sweet yet robust taste with roundness. This is one of the better choices for an amateur drinker of sake and makes a great starter choice. A very nice choice for a slightly heavier meal such as a chicken or beef dish. If you are interested in trying this great choice, click here.
Nishi no Homare Brewery Co. in Nakatsu city has a relatively warm climate and faces the inland sea throughout the year. Nakatsu is a city rich in natural resources surrounded by ocean, mountains and clean clear stream. A natural source of lightly alkaline spring-water makes their Yoshitoki Mild Mugi Shochu light and soft yet the use of black malt makes it flavorful and harmonious fragrance and moreover the method of non-carbon filter accentuates natural sweetness of barley. You can obtain this choice for $27 by clicking here.
Yokota Brewery was established over two hundred years ago in Gyoda city. It is located by two prominent rivers which provide sufficient spring water and fruitful land resulting in optimum conditions that are important when making good sake. They offer a great sake for $23 called Nihonbashi Junmai which has a distinctive rice aroma and a high acidity which creates the true depth of a sake. If this is something you'd like to enjoy, click here to order. This is a nice choice to go with a more robust dining selection.
