A Guide to Change Keyboard Languages in Windows

The keyboards that are in use nowadays include keyboard languages as their main characteristic which aids the user in modifying the keyboard design on the basis of individual likings and requirements. Popular operating systems like the Mac and Windows OS come equipped with this characteristic for better functionality.

In United States, English is the default language set up in the operating systems in use. Especially in the case of Windows, the standard keyboard language is English due to its wide reach and reputed status. This is in accordance with the reputation of the English language, which enjoys the status of international medium of mass communication.

But for users who are not familiar with the language, it becomes imperative to change keyboard languages and the language of the operating system too, to enable better performance. For those users who need a different language to be set up as the operating system and keyboard language, a complete instruction manual is needed to make the change especially in Windows operating system.

In Windows operating system the language element is present in the control panel. Clicking on the Start button and selecting the Control panel will give you the location of the language component. In earlier models, the My Computer part had the control panel in it but these are not always equipped with the change keyboard languages or change the language of operating system feature.

Both Windows XP and Windows Vista are attributed with the simple and trendy view of the control panel when clicking on the Control panel option. The Regional and Language options that appear on the Control panel when double clicked, opens to a panel that is similar to the one that is seen when Windows operating system is installed in the computer.

On this screen click on the Languages tab which leads to the part where the language can be designed to suit your purpose. Choose Details option in the Text Services and Input Languages area. Click Add button present in the Installed services header. An Add Input Language icon appears and here the language of your choice can be highlighted. To customize this option you can go to the Input Method Editor.

After the language change is completed, you can see evidence of this in the system tray which indicates the changed keyboard language position. You can also interchange languages according to your usage by pressing the Alt and Shift keys at the same time. For those users who are not proficient in English language it is very difficult to work and the computer as a result, is out of reach for most people. With the option to change keyboard languages this can be rectified and the computer will be easily accessible to all sections of people.
