A Guide to Chicago's Jet Vodka Lounge

Joy Smith
If you're a vodka lover, Chicago's Jet Vodka Lounge is definitely the spot to check out. Their menu includes over 120 vodkas from around the world, some reasonably priced and some very pricey. Even if vodka isn't your thing, there are still a nice variety of other liquors. Don't expect to just walk into this unique club, however.

If you're not on the list, chances are, you're not getting in. If you do happen to make it past the front door, you'll want to wear dress pants and a button up shirt since your average t-shirt and jeans apparel isn't allowed.

Once inside, you'll find the atmosphere replicates the inside of a Boeing 777 jetliner, all decked out in white with bright lights, and a dome shaped ceiling with image projections to set the mood. Even the servers set the theme with cute little stewardess costumes and a sleek ponytail hairdo.

The Jet Vodka Lounge may see unique or even cute to some, but don't hold your breath. The Jet Vodka Lounge is far from perfect. First off, seating is very limited and generally reserved for those who order a bottle, so if you're looking for a table, you may be out of luck. Also be prepared because standing room is limited as well. And dancing? Well, you can forget about it since dance space is limited in this Upper-class vodka club.

About the best thing this club has going for them aside from the large list of Vodkas is the music. The Jet Vodka Lounge plays a variety of both new and old rock, hip-hop and dance tunes.

When you order a drink, don't be surprised at spending anything less than $5 on a typical night. The drink prices are very expensive, but to some they seem to be well worth it. You can expect to see drinks like, Honey Pepper Vodka and lemonade, Lemon Pepper Martini and the happy ending on the menu, just to name a few. If you're not fond of their $5 and up drink prices, you can always head to The Jet Vodka Lounge on a Thursday for their $2 well drinks.

If you can afford to buy a bottle verses a glass, you might want to give the Mezzaluna Vodka a try. If you want something a little pricier, you may find that a bottle of Faberge Imperial is perfect for your taste.

Also, to get in the door it will cost you anywhere from $5 to $20 for a cover charge, depending on what night you go. If you don't want to have to pay a costly charge, you may want to try to get there before 9pm on a weeknight.

The Jet Vodka Lounge's hours are from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., Wednesday through Friday and Sunday; and 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Saturday. The Jet Vodka Lounge is located at: 1555 N Sheffield Ave or you can call them at: (312) 440-9170.
