There are many easy ways to help boost your monthly income, such as hosting yard/garage sales, pet sitting and listing items for sale on sites such as eBay and Craigslist. If you are using Craigslist, you should be aware of correct seller etiquette.
Abide by the Guidelines
It is not just buyers who need to abide by the site guidelines. Sellers should also strictly adhere to the rules and regulations. Make sure that the items or services you are listing are not prohibited (i.e. pornography is in violation of Craigslist guidelines).
Respond to Every Query
Selling may not be your cup of tea, but when you are planning to list items or services for sale, you need to make sure the customer knows you are all too ready to answer their questions or to send additional photos for them. It is important to always respond to every query you come across, even if the interested person's question has already been answered in your original listing.
Write back or call as soon as you receive the message. This lets potential customers know that you are a serious seller and you are concerned with providing an excellent service. A professional, prompt approach will not go unnoticed.
Be Polite and Courteous
Treat each Craigslist listing as you would any other professional business transaction by being polite and courteous when customers stop by. Remember that if you are rude or short with them, either before you meet them or when they stop by to take a closer look at your items for sale, they will let their friends and family know what you are like and you could end up losing out on a sale. It is never worth risking a sale just because you are impatient with a customer's question or you are having a bad day.
A spring clean can do you and your community a lot of good, as you de-clutter your home and earn some extra cash. If you are planning to use Craigslist, make sure you are familiar with how to use the site by abiding by the guidelines, responding to every query and making sure you are polite and courteous to each and every customer. The way you treat customers will have a direct impact on how successful you are in selling your items.
