A Guide to How Detoxification Can Help Your Skin

Detoxification can be great for the body in general, to release built-up toxins in the tissue cells and the blood. It can also help to clear up skin or just overall make it feel much more healthy. This is because our skin can actually be a great reason for the toxins in our bodies - as it is permeable, certain chemicals can penetrate through the skins outer layers, work its way through the epidermis and the dermis, which then heads straight to the blood stream to be travel throughout the entire body.

There are many ways to perm a detox session for yourself. A variety of different things should be combine to get the best effects of releasing your body's toxins. Many of these effective procedures are listed below.

First of all, you need to cut certain things out of your diet for a certain amount of time. Most detox session last about 7 days, as the body needs this amount of time to become fully clean. Specific things you may be taking in, such as sugars, saturated fat, caffeine, alcohol and cigarette smoke, are all toxins which tend to build up and have a negative effect on the body. Cut yourself off from all of these things at least for the seven days in which you are detoxing.

Another thing you should ignore during this period, is any chemical house cleaner or bath product. A lot of these things can bring toxins into the body when breathed in and absorbed through the skin, and even irritate the skin without you realizing the actual cause. Turn to natural cleaning and bath products at least during this time, and after you're done with the detoxification you may find you actually prefer to stay natural with such things.

There are many types of detoxification programs, including fasting procedures of which only water or juices are ingested. However, what I chose to do was, I believe, a much easier procedure that still had an excellent effect of detoxing my body and renewing the health of my skin.

After cutting all the bad things out of my diet, I replaced a lot of it with foods high in fiber, such as brown rice and whole-grain breads and pastas. I also loaded up on organic fruits and vegetables. Green vegetables especially are great for a detox diet, as are veggies like beets and radishes. Eating only organic for the week ensures that you're not ingesting a bunch of chemicals or pesticides, as well.

The liquids we drink can also play a big part in detoxification. I drank a LOT of water in this time, more water than anything, along with pure, no-sugar-added orange juice. The vitamin C in orange juice is especially helpful, as it can help the liver to clear out even more toxins. A vitamin C supplement is also a great choice to add to your diet to help you out in this procedure.

Green tea is another drink that is great for a detox, as are other teas with natural herbs such as dandelion root. These are quite known for their ability to help cleans out the system.

Exercise itself is one of the most important things in a detox program. Not only that, but making it a routine even after your detoxification is over can help drive out future toxins even faster. Especially working out to the point of breaking into a sweat will help, as sweating clears the body and the skin itself of any built-up toxins.

Because of sweating, it's also why saunas and steam baths are particularly useful for when it comes to detoxification - especially in making the skin more clear and healthy. It opens pours and lets the toxins wash out with the sweat. You should definitely take a shower afterwards, and stay away from saunas completely if you have medical issues such as high blood pressure or are pregnant (the latter of which you probably shouldn't be doing such a detoxification procedure at all without at least speaking to your doctor first).

Scrubbing your skin over with a skin brush or loofah can also help remove dead, dry skin and clear the pores that tend to become blocked when calluses form. This is an essential part of helping your skin out in the middle of a detox program, and you will see that it will help greatly.
