A Guide to the Different Kinds of Throwing Stars in Maple Story

Cloudage
In Maple Story, assassins use throwing stars to kill their enemies. This Maple Story guide is meant as a reference to the different kinds of throwing stars available in the game.

The Subi throwing star is what most new assassins start out with. These can be bought at most stores throughout Maple Story for 500 mesos, and have an attack +15. Monsters that drop these are Jr. Sentinels and Trixters.

The Wolbi is often the next step up. These throwing stars have an attack +17, and are dropped by Fire Boars, Leatty, and Jr. Cellion. Wolbies are usually cheap to buy, and can easily be bought in the Free Market.

Snowballs are awesome throwing stars, but have the same attack as the Wolbi. They look much cooler however, so if you are able to afford them you should try to get some. Alternately you could kill some Fire Boars, Lupins or Ticks in hope of them dropping one.

Wooden Tops are dropped by the Dark Axe Stump, and have an attack of +19. They have a good speed, and are good to use if you are lucky enough to find them.

Tobis are another step up. These throwing stars have an attack of +23, and are dropped by a wide range of monsters. There are usually many people both buying and selling Tobis, so if you're not strong enough to hunt for them yourself they can easily be obtained in the Free Market.

Steelies are attack +25. When you have yourself a pair of these you are seriously in the assassin business. Every assassin should definitely have one of these.

Ilbis are the best of the best when it comes to throwing stars. They have an attack of whooping +27, and are the best stars you can get in Maple Story. The monsters that drop Ilbis are Mushmom, Zombie Mushmom, Lycanthrope, Wolf Spider, and Spirit Vikings.

You should always try to get the best throwing star you're able to afford, as a good throwing star makes leveling so much easier.

Assassins add so much great graphics to Maple Story as well, very much due to the throwing stars they use. If you're a poor assassin kill monsters that drop the throwing star you want, and don't quit until you find it. Otherwise you can try out Basil Market or Sleepywood, as you might get lucky and get some cheap ones.

Always remember to get several sets of the throwing stars, as running out of stars when you're in the middle of nowhere killing monsters, and then having to spend half an hour walking back to a town to recharge is a pain.

Good throwing stars make assassins one of the funniest characters in Maple Story.
