A Pencil Eyeliner
The standard pencil eyeliner is the type of eyeliner most familiar to consumers, and up until recent years it was the predominant eyeliner type available at mass merchandisers and drugstores. A pencil eyeliner can be quite versatile if you utilize it along with a quality eye pencil sharpener.
Note: A specific eyeliner pencil sharpener is necessary because a household pencil sharpener is more prone to becoming dull from repeated use. The household sharpener will not give you an extremely tapered pencil point in many cases.
If you keep your eyeliner pencil tapered to a sharp point, you can create a very thin and accentuating eye line which can provide great results along the lower lashes in particular. Should the end be allowed to dull slightly, the pencil is great for creating a soft eyeliner look.
A Smooth Eyeliner
A smooth eyeliner is called a few different things by the various make-up companies. The most predominant names rotate around a smooth or cream theme. These eyeliners are presented in a pencil form with a cap on either end. One end is the actual liner and the other a slight smudge stick.
Smooth eyeliners are good for creating a smudge look right off the top, and they also are a bit easier for novice eyeliner users to get the knack of immediately, as they leave room for blending for concealing a slight mistake. A cream or smooth eyeliner lends itself to creating a soft, smoky eye.
A Liquid Eyeliner
Liquid eyeliner is usually terrifying for the girl or woman beginning to experiment with eyeliners. Liquid eyeliner does not allow for a lot of wiggle room in the application technique. One slip-up can be grounds for having to remove the eyeliner and start from scratch. However, with a little bit of practice your technique will be set for life, and the only crafting necessary will be to create specific looks. Liquid eyeliner is the best eyeliner for creating eyeliner styles that extend past the actual line of the eyes, such as a cat eye.
Eyeliner is a necessary component in the make-up kit or bag of the stylish woman. If you purchase a pencil eyeliner, a smooth eyeliner, and a liquid eyeliner you will be completely set for creating a variety of eye makeup looks.
