If there is one thing I do not enjoy, it is shopping. Any kind of shopping, during any time of the year is usually less fun for me than a root canal. My mother and my husband have to bribe, threaten or in some other way coerce me into going. When it is the Christmas season, I just want to hide in my house, hit Wal-Mart at three o'clock in the morning, get all my shopping done, and call it good. Unfortunately, if I want to find bargains, which I do, I have to shop during the normal hours to hit the stores where I can find gifts that fit into my budget. I also try to find the good deals on things like gift bags, bows and wrapping paper. Speaking of wrapping paper, I have found some excellent deals in the Van Buren, Arkansas, which is the town right "next door" to mine.

First, I checked the Dollar General. There I found several options of wrapping paper, in varying styles and colors. For $3, it is possible to acquire one roll of forty inch by sixty square feet of wrapping paper with Nascar, Spongebob Squarepants, Dora the Explorer, Elmo or the Transformers. Also for $3, there is an eighty square foot roll of paper available with various Christmas themes and colors that donates to St. Jude's hospital. This is a good price for a good cause. For $1, there is a single roll of thirty-five square feet of paper, again in various Christmas themes. Also, spending just $2 will get an eighteen square foot roll of paper that seems a little shinier and fancier. Those are some pretty good deals. The store in Van Buren, Arkansas is at 120 Pointer Trail West. The hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., seven days a week.

I then traveled to Walgreen's, and I found the $1.99 rolls of Christmas-themed wrapping paper in many colors with many different themes, from snowmen to Rudolph to Santa to candy canes, fifty square feet worth of them. At $4.99, it is possible to get forty-five square feet of really pretty paper that is cheerful, and seems to be less cheap in quality than the $1.99 rolls. For $5.99 there is a choice of a three-roll multi-pack of the very pretty and shiny foil wrap or the four-roll multi-pack of what looks like the $1.99 stuff with one hundred twenty-five square feet. Finally, for $3.99, there is the single roll of heavy weight wrap with seventy feet of paper. These are also fairly good deals. I would also like to mention that Walgreen's usually has a humdinger of an after-Christmas clearance where the consumer can purchase such things at up to ninety percent discounts. The Van Buren, Arkansas, location is 1601 Fayetteville Road. The stores hours are Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

One of my favorite stores in the world, and the only place where I will shop without an argument is the Dollar Tree. I was not as impressed with their options for Christmas wrap this year. There were only a few options of thirty square foot rolls at $1.00. However, if the consumer simply wants an inexpensive roll of paper for a few gifts, this is not a bad deal. Since I avoid Wal-Mart like the plague, I did not bother to compare with their prices. I love the Dollar Tree, since I can get multiple gift bags for $1.00 to give to the adults. I only wrap presents for the kids, anyway. This Dollar Tree location is at 2300 Fayetteville Road, Suite 300, Van Buren, Arkansas. The results of my bargain hunt were satisfactory. Although, I think the store employees at all three stores must think I'm some kind of nut, I now know where to shop for some great deals on wrapping paper for my children's Christmas gifts, this year.
