Guide to Gift Ideas for Her

Charity Hendrix
The best gift is one that matches the personality and lifestyle of the person who receives it. If she likes to knit, buy her some luxurious handspun yarn, such as cashmere or angora. If she loves music get her a gift card to the iTunes store or concert tickets to a band she likes. If you're in a relationship together, you must be especially sure to get her something special, a very personalized gift. A set of bath stuff from her aunt and a set of bath stuff from you will not be met with the same joy, trust me. Put some thought and time into an unusual gift and it's sure to be something she'll brag about in the future instead of something she'll secretly hate.

A useful gift can be a good gift but only if it's something she's guaranteed to use often and enjoy. Use your common sense and it will makes things easier for you. If she's rarely in the kitchen, don't get her a new culinary gadget just because it would come in handy. If she's daydreamed of going to cooking school, though, that might be just the thing she'd love. Some useful gifts are almost guaranteed to make the recipient happy: Nice yarn for knitters, good sized canvasses for painters, a high-rated cookbook for amateur chefs. If you don't know what would work best for her, check out some online reviews of the kinds of products you're thinking of getting.

That being said, some good GENERAL gifts follow:
*A dvd of her favorite tv show or movie, bundled with some popcorn or other snacks she likes. (If you're dating, take a night off to spend with her and watch it together. Bonus points if it's something you wouldn't normally want to sit through.)
*A really simple but beautiful piece of jewelry - something that will go with anything. Make sure you don't get a metal she's allergic to, and don't buy her gold if she only likes silver.
*A quiet dinner somewhere so she can enjoy the company as well as the food. If she's always wanted to try a particular type of food, such as Thai or sushi, then that would be a great kind of place to go.
*A piece of artwork for her place. Something that will hold meaning for her, especially, or something that will fit into the spot in her bedroom that she's not been able to find art for yet.
*A nice bottle of wine and a home cooked meal with her favorite tunes played in the background while you eat. Make the dessert something decadent that she doesn't often have but really enjoys.

More expensive gifts:
*A digital camera with a memory card to go with it.
*An overnight stay in a nice hotel so she can recharge her batteries.
*Take her shopping and let her choose one really fabulous item from the store she loves but can't often afford.
*Send her and her best friend to a spa to get a massage and pedicure.

Some cheap gifts that will still be a hit:
*A hardcover copy of her favorite paperback, the one she's read a million times that's starting to fall apart.
*A picnic in the park. Make the food yourself. For a more special touch, use china you've got from a thrift store beforehand instead of paper plates.
*Bake her some bread and get some local jam and honey to eat with it. Wrap it all nicely.
