The atmosphere of your home is important for your New Years Eve Party and decorating will be expected of you. Glitter, balloons and garlands will make any home look ready for New Years Eve, but also candles and Christmas lights are needed to create a New Years Eve atmosphere. Hang serpentine throws everywhere and if you are having a sit down dinner decorate the table with serpentine throws, confetti and floral arrangements.

Entertaining.

When you are planning your entertaining for your New Years Eve party remember to purchase hats, tiaras, beads and you can even buy eyeglasses in all shape and sizes and for the kids remember to buy whistles and noisemakers so when the grown ups are partying they can have fun on their own. If kids are coming to your party be sure to have some ideas for games or even some classical board games that you can play while they are waiting for the clock to strike 12. Another great idea for both grown ups and kids is to buy disposable cameras so people can have fun with taking pictures of each other through the party, get everyone's email addresses and have the pictures developed on CD's and email everyone on your list the pictures.

Ideas for food and drinks.

Certainly, champagne is the main drink for the night, but if you want to do something else a champagne punch is a great idea, it is also a great welcome drink. Remember if kids are coming to have some fun non-alcoholic drinks or even a non-alcoholic punch also buy funny straws and sparklers for their drinks. If you are having a classic party oysters is a great idea and is commonly used but also shrimps, crab cakes and really all fish and seafood are a good idea for a classical New Years Eve party. If you are going more casual and a less formal dinner then a buffet with good luck food like Hoppin' John, black eyed and fortune cookies is a great idea.
