In my kitchen and dining room, you will find the standard linoleum type flooring. Linoleum is quite deceptive. You would imagine that this is the easiest type of flooring to clean, but in reality, linoleum is the hardest type of flooring to clean, as it requires elbow grease. I thought that my Clorox Redi Mop would do the job and leave me with a squeaky clean floor, but this simply is not true. In actuality the Clorox Redi Mop is the biggest waste of money, as you still need to use a traditional broom, and you will end up scrubbing your linoleum if cleanliness is at all important to you. To properly clean a linoleum floor, begin by sweeping with a broom, then find a good antibacterial cleanser such as Windex multi surface anti bacterial spray and grab a scrub brush and two towels. When you are on the floor you will notice that linoleum is easily scratched by normal traffic, and dirt is embedded in all types of cuts and scrapes of the flooring. It is gross, and it will maybe anger you to find yourself doing this chore after spending over twenty dollars on the Clorox mop system. After the entire floor is scrubbed, wipe it down with the towels, and then use the Clorox Redi Mop for last minute touch ups.
On a hardwood floor, it is necessary to sweep with a broom or broom vacuum almost daily. This will keep dirt and pet hair from building up. Pledge makes a hardwood floor cleaning product that is affordable and easy to use. I clean my hardwood floor once a week with Pledge hard wood floor cleaner. Keep in mind your Clorox Redi Mop type cleansers usually are not ideal or safe for cleaning your hard wood floors.
Carpets should be vacuumed at least two times a week, to daily depending upon your traffic on the carpets. I never allow shoes in my home to keep my job of floor cleaning a little easier. There is no simple solution I have found for keeping my flooring immaculate. If a clean and sanitary floor is important to you, you know the only fool proof way involves a lot of elbow grease and frequent touch ups.
