For learning and fun try the Children's Museum that is in Midtown. The kids can paint & sculpt in the art studio, get in the flight simulator and be in a real airplane cockpit, check out planet Mars, get in a real fire engine, check out the Mississippi River, climb through the arteries of a heart, and much more. There are areas setup for Skyscraper fun, Dental knowledge, Dance-a-lot, Growing Health, Windows of the World, Banking, Art creativity, How to recycle, Kid's Shopping Market, and more. Children under 1 year old is free and kids to age 12 are $7. Adults are $8 and senior citizens (65+) are $7. This is also a great Birthday party idea. They have packages available. You can eat at Quiznos that is on the premises or you can bring your sack lunch.
Golf & Games Family Park, connected with Putt-Putt Golf, is 40 acres of family activities. First, there is miniature golf fun with the putt putt area. If golfing on the course is too crowded you can try th4e golf driving range. There is more fun with the go-karts and bumper cars. If you like baseball you might want to take a swing at the batting cages. Lasar tag can be a riot for the family. The younger children will love all of the kiddie rides that are available for fun. If the indoors sounds goood then take a look at the game room that features a virtual rollor coaster rides. Picnic areas are available for group events (appointment only) that features a playground area with a pool. In the picnic area there is an area set up for basketball, volleyball, and horseshoes. There are birthday party packages available.
If you like laser tag then try out Laser Quest in Midtown. It is only $7 per game and can offer endless fun for the family to enjoy. If it is a group the admission will be $6 per game but call ahead to reserve.
For more learning fun visit the Memphis Pink Palace Museum in Midtown where for the adults they will be amazed at the history of the building but for the kids they will love the exhibits that are interactive and fun. You can walk throught the replicia of the Piggly Wiggly from the old days and see the wonders in the Planetarium. They have an exhibit that shows Memphis's history all the way back from the Civil War and for the dinosaur loving children there is an exhibit showing off the fossils from the time they walked the earth.
Memphis Zoo is in Midtown and is a fun adventure to see. There is the new Northwest Passage addition to the zoo that offers polar bears that swim around in their personal pool and a new area for the seals to splash around in. The elephants can capture your attention with their new and improved area that features their new pool. You can shop for memorabilia at the shops at the entrance or at the panda exhibit. There are kiddie rides and a petting zoo where you can see cows, goats, and donkeys. There is a playground at the front by the Backyard Burger stand. Make sure to get a map at the entrance to see the show times so you can see some of the animals show what they can do.
Another fun place for the kids is Chucky Cheese where they can play games and get prizes. You can also get food and watch a show on the stage with Chucky singing and dancing. There are birthday packages available.
I try to do something at least once a month with my daughter and find that it brings you closer when you experience things like these together. I only hope that you enjoy these as much as we do.
