In the Clermont/Minneola area there are several churches that put on Easter celebrations for children of all ages and encourage family involvement.
Family Christian Center has one of the largest events, which takes place the weekend before Easter. Their event is broken into egg hunts for specific ages, starting in staggered times, so you can time your visit appropriately based on the ages of your children. Children are encouraged to take ten eggs, that are full of treats and goodies. They recycle the plastic eggs, so you keep the candy but return the eggs.
Their event includes vendors, food, bouncy houses and other fun activities for children. Paradise Park is also located on their facilities, and is a great place to visit before or after the egg hunt. Parking is often a challenge due to the amount of visitors that this site receives for the egg hunt, but is handled well with numerous volunteers. You can also park at local shopping areas and walk to the church event.
First United Methodist Church of Clermont also always has a festival for Easter, often including egg hunts. They celebrate with a marketplace often resembling cities of Biblical Times such as Jerusalem with themed activities and stations for children to stop in and participate. Children usually receive a token from each area that they visit which is converted into Easter eggs, prizes, or the kids can keep the coins. The themed events encourage families to have an appreciation for the meaning of Easter, since we can celebrate Jesus' resurrection.
While there are often other participating churches with special Easter egg hunts and events, these are the two churches that consistently hold community events that encourage family participation and that are not limited to involvement in the church. My family has participated in both of these events. They are both geared to families and they both have provided opportunities for our family to enjoy the holiday and the egg hunting involved.
As a Christian, I enjoy the opportunity for my children to learn about the historical settings in the Bible in conjunction with the true meaning for a holiday. Activities that encourage family involvement always get us excited and we jump at the chances to get out and try something new.
