Dahlonega, GA 30533
For instance there are the bars in Dahlonega. While they are not swanky establishments for the rich and famous to be found in, they are nice little dive spots that host a range of activities. The three main places to be after dusk is Buster's, Wylie's, and Caruso's. These are all three family-owned restaurants that just so happen to have a lot more going on than it seems on first impression.
Buster's, which is directly across the street from the campus of North Georgia College and State University, hosts an array of events from local music performances to trivia and karoeke throughout the week. The weekends are pretty much dedicated to just being in a bar atmosphere with some friends, but during the week you can stop in on any given evening and find something going on. Thursdays are typically the local concert evenings, while Tuesdays and Wednesdays are split with trivia and karoeke competitions. All of this is enjoyed with the friendly staff that Buster's employs.
If you're looking to get down and drity in the middle of the week, Caruso's is the place to be. While it's no disco, the bar is often packed with college coeds attempting their best impression of whatever song they are trying to sing for Wednesday night karoeke, and racking their brains for answers on Monday evening's trivia competitions. From time to time their are local musician performances, and the bar can actually be rented out to host whatever occassion that warrants a party.
For a taste of a little more class in your evening lifestyle, Wylie's offers a tavern in a very intimate setting. The bar for Wylie's is actually beneath the restaurant, so there isn't as much space as in Buster's and Caruso's. However, the lighting is usually dim, the television is usually muted, and the soft murmur of conversation may be just what the doctor ordered for anyone that has a high-stress routine from day-to-day. The actual events that Wylie's hosts is very sporadic, and on any given evening you are sure to find a range of activities from local folk musicians to soft-spoken trivia.
There are, of course, plenty of other things usually going on in the city of Dahlonega, such as fraternity and sorority functions or events held by the college, but these three places are places you can come to if you are strapped for options. While none of these places are going to become your favorite place to hang out every night, there is usually enough variety between the three to ensure that whichever one you choose, there's something going on.
