A Guide to Printable Tattoos and Tattoo Placement

Tracie Trog
Tattoos are a beautiful way to turn a body into a canvas.
Some people design their own and other people flip through portfolios at tattoo shops until they choose what they want and where they want to put it. There are literally millions of designs the world over.

However, while looking at the drawing of the design, the one who desires ink may not be able to envision what the final design may look like once transferred to skin. This can lead to regretting something that is permanent.
A very easy solution for this is printable tattoos galleries.
These galleries are possible because more and more tattoo artists are uploading their portfolios onto websites.

However, if you put, "Printable Tattoos" into Google, you come up with thousands of hits. So, where to start?
A veritable goldmine of information can be found here.
While it's a lengthy Ezine article it provides valuable information about tattoos, certain dos and don'ts, interesting tidbits and a lot of links that can be a little confusing to navigate, I dug through the links and while most galleries were fabulous, I am going to cover my favorite sites.

A free site worth browsing is Body Art Galleries
While some of the images leave something to be desired, it does offer some high quality images, and drawings.
This is a good place to start for someone who wants to get ideas for a design.

For those interested in Scorpion ink, Cool Tattoo Finder is very helpful. It gives the meanings behind the multitudes of Scorpion designs.

This Squidoo Lens highlights wrist tattoos. This page has a list of the pros and cons of wrist tattoos and features a good work up of high quality images with a wide variety of designs, descriptions. The page also highlights an interesting fact; "Survey has found that 17% regrets getting a tattoo. And for wrist tattoos this is 25%."
I have a wrist tattoo of The Triple Goddess symbol that I got done nearly four years ago. I don't regret mine.

This is my favorite free gallery.
While it's not the biggest gallery, the intricate details of their featured tattoos is incredible and inspiring. One could easily spend hours clicking through the site.

As I mentioned earlier, there are pay sites. The best one I have found is Chopper Tattoo.
When I say this sight has thousands of designs, that is not an exaggeration. I spent an ungodly amount of time browsing the site, and I don't think I covered half of it. Another advantage of this site is that you can locate the nearest Chopper Tattoo shop in your area. It's a $35.00 lifetime signup fee or you can sign up for 30 days for 19.95.

For those who are looking for great Irish or Celtic themed ink should visit Tattoo Johnny.
The site offers downloadable tattoo stencils that you take to the artist of your choice. The prices start at $5.00 and increase depending on the size and detail of the design. It's worth noting that this company offers more than Irish tattoos.

This site gives comprehensive advice on tattoo placement.
I cannot stress enough researching your design and picking a good placement. Once you get it, it's there forever. You don't want to regret it.
