The San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered Pride takes place every year at the end of June. This LGBT pride festival is one of the biggest celebrations in California. Thousands and thousands of people go to San Francisco's Lesbian, Gay, bisexual, and Transgendered Pride. This LGBT Pride celebration lasts throughout the weekend, and has many events happening throughout it. If you have never been to San Francisco LGBT Pride or just want to know more about it then this guide will help you. Here are some main important things to know about SF LGBT Pride.

Where to stay

San Francisco LGBT pride is celebrated throughout the city, and there are many hotels to stay at. There are two great areas that people going to SF LGBT Pride should focus on when looking for a hotel. One area is the Castro, and the other area is the Civic Center. If you find a hotel close to these two areas then you are set. Staying in the Castro is great because that is where a lot of the parties, marches, and celebration are occurring. The Civic Center area is also good because that is where the parade and festival are happening.

Travel

There are many ways to get to San Francisco and get around in it. If you decide to fly then I would suggest landing in Oakland instead of San Francisco. The good thing about landing in Oakland is that the ticket is usually cheaper, and it is easier to find transportation from Oakland airport instead of San Francisco. Other ways to get to SF include the grey hound, train, and driving. If you decide to drive my recommendation would be to park your car in your hotel once you get to SF and take the public transportation. San Francisco offers many types of transportation that is easily assessable. Transportation includes: MUNI, BART, Cable Cars, and taxis. My recommendation would be using MUNI and BART the most because they are very convenient and inexpensive.

Events

There are many events to go to during SF LGBT Pride. Here are some very popular ones to go to.

Transgendered March

Transgendered March happens on Friday. Everyone meets at Delores Park usually around 7 pm. This march is Free.

Dyke March

Dyke March happens on Saturday. Everyone usually starts meeting at Delores Park around 3 pm, and the March Starts at 7 pm. This march is Free.

The Pink Party

The Pink party is a big celebration that happens in the Castro. The Pink Party has many dance stages and people celebrating. This event is also free, but requests a donation of $5.

The Pride Parade

The pride parade happens on Sunday in the Civic Center area. The parade starts off with the Dykes on Bikes. There are many different groups and people marching in the parade that makes it an even greater celebration. The Parade is Free, but I suggest getting there early to get a good spot on the route.

The Pride Festival

The Pride Festival happens both on Saturday and Sunday in the Civic Center area. The Pride festival includes many dance and performance stages, vendors, organizations, and lots of fun. The Pride festival is also free, but requests a donation of $5.

Safety

Safety is very important especially during SF LGBT Pride. Here are some important safety tips to know when you are travel and having fun at SF LGBT Pride.

Always stay in a group or with a friend

During SF LGBT Pride it is important to always stay with a group of friends. Never go off alone or with someone you don't know.

Keep Track of your things

Everyone is going to be partying and may not pay attention to their belongings. Make sure to keep your belongings close to you especially wallets and purses. You never know who may try to steal something especially if there are a lot of people there.

Have Safe Sex

There are going to be a lot of cute and beautiful people during SF LGBT Pride. If you are going to have sex during LGBT Pride then act safe and put on a condom, and for the women use a dental dam. Have no worry either because there are a lot of places you can get a condom.

Don't Drink and Drive

It's already hard to drive in SF when you're not drinking, and it is even hard to drive in SF during LGBT Pride. The best thing to do if you are going to Drink is take the MUNI or Bart, or you could also walk. If you walk however, make sure a friend is with you.

So if you are going to SF LGBT Pride then this guide is sure to give you some helpful pointers on where to go, what to do, and how to keep safe. Just remember the important thing about SF LGBT Pride is to celebrate your diversity!
