1. 2010 Honda Civic: The 2010 Honda Civic ranked 3 out of 30 affordable automobiles in the small car bracket. Reviewers agreed that this automobile has a winning combination of substance and style and staked its claim as a leader in this class of automobiles. It is one of the most reliable, fuel efficient and solid performing affordable small cars. The 2010 Honda Civic continues to offer the same winning combination of form and function that led Consumer Guide to name the 2009 model a Best Buy, so you may still want to consider the purchase of the 2009 model as it's essentially the same as the 2010 model. MSRP is $14,900 to $19,000 for the 2010 Honda Civic.
2. 2010 Ford Fushion: The 2010 Ford Fushion ranked 4 out of 22 affordable mid-size automobiles, based on 15 published reviews. This 2010 Motor Trend Car of the Year is listed as one of the best mid-size family cars. It's one of the fastest selling cars in the U.S. since last summer. It's a 2010 Consumer Reports recommendation and a Consumer Guide Best Buy. The 2010 Ford Fushion earned a rating of 9 for reliability by J.D. Power Associates and may be just the choice for affordability in the mid-size range of cars. MSRP is $19,000 to $27,500.
3. 2010 GMC Terrain: This brand new affordable 2010 compact SUV ranked 2 out of 24 in this class. It impressed drivers with its value, excellent fuel economy and performance. Its overall rating in compact SUV'S was an 8.7. Its 32 mpg base high fuel economy was very, very impressive, which is the highest in this class of vehicle. It was described as a great alternative to a hybrid like the Ford Escape. MSRP is $24,700 to $32,000.
4. 2009 Chevrolet Malibu: The 2009 Chevrolet Malibu is described as one of the best choices family car buyers could make. Its overall performance rating was a 9.1 with a 10 for reliability(you can't get much better then that). This car is not only affordable and dependable, it's also a very good looking vehicle. Motor Trend described it as a legitimate contender for the best-in-bragging-class. Kelley Blue Book said among other things, it offers good fuel economy, drives wonderful, and is priced to sell in serious volumes. MSRP is $21,700 to $27,000.
If I were in the market for a new car today, I would consider any of these 4 automobiles for affordability as well as dependability.

I've been driving Toyotas for 20 years, but if I were buying today, I think I'd go for that Honda Civic! Good and informative article.
