3.) Tools To Help
There two ways to plant flower bulbs. If you are planting many of them, it is best to dig a trench with the help of a spade. If you are just planting a few of them, it is best to use a bulb-planting tool. The bulb-planting tool digs a cylinder shaped amount of dirt and you just drop the bulb into the perfectly shaped hole! It's that easy! Trenching, however harder and more time consuming, is the best way to plant a large amount of bulbs.
A bulb arrangement plan can also help you with the planting. Draw this plan up before you start digging. This is so you know exactly what colors are going to grow where and you are not surprised or disappointed when they do grow in.
If you have small bulbs, you might also want to purchase a bulb-dibber. These are very useful for planting small bulbs. Just insert into soil, work from side to side to create hole, and insert bulb. Firm soil back together. The tip of a garden trowel can be used in the same manner. the dibber is basically a bulb-planter, but does not remove any soil and is used generally for small bulbs.
4.) Conclusion
Planting bulbs may seem complicated at times, but it can be a very easy and pleasurable experience once you learn how to do it properly.. All you have to do is a little bit of planning ahead of time, learn a few tricks of the trade ahead of time and you will be a bulb planting fool in no time!
