A Guide to St. Maarten

There is a little island in the middle of the Caribbean called St. Maarten, the #1 destination in the Caribbean and #3 destination in the world. The island is divided through the middle; one side is French and the other side is Dutch. Though there is no border between them they are officially different countries. Peak season on the Island is from November to April, with between 10,000 to 20,000 tourists during these months.

I came here on the 20th of May and have loved my stay so far. I will tell you about some of the hotspots on the Dutch side of the Island, their night life, and other attractions so that when you take your next vacation and decide to come to this paradise island, you will know exactly where to go to have a blast.
The legal age for drinking and gambling is 18.

Restaurants, Bars, and Nightclubs.
There are a lot of restaurants and bars on this island and if I named every single one the list would go on forever so I am going to give you a few of the highlights.
Sopranos - Restaurant and Sports Bar.
Named after the popular TV show starring James Gandolfini, The Sopranos is a pure homage with pictures and sayings all over the walls from the series. They serve some of the best Italian food on the island and is considered one of the most popular restaurants in St. Maarten.
It is located in Maho near Princess Juliana airport.

The Yacht Club - Grill House and Bar.
A taste of local food in this nice simple waterside restaurant where you can view the Yachts docking. Their specialties include grilled pork ribs, shrimp, and whole lobsters. Worth checking this place out as it is quite famous on the island.
Located in Simpson Bay.

Peg Leg Pub - Restaurant, Buffet, and Bar.
This is a nice place to go for a relaxing evening and a great meal. With live entertainment every night you will never get bored coming here. If you are extra hungry you can go inside and have a 10$ 5star buffet.
Located at Port de Plaisance next to Princess Casino.

Tijuana - Bar and Restaurant.
Mexican food and salsa music make this little bar in Simpson Bay a fun place to go to relax whether you want to shoot some of the most expensive tequila in the world or have some burritos and tacos, it has a nice atmosphere and is definitely worth checking out. They also serve delicious Margaritas and frozen Margaritas.

Bliss - Nightclub.
One of the more popular nightclubs on the island is past the Juliana Airport and has a special every night of the week, whether it is ladies night on Friday or buy one get one free on Thursday, they open around 11p.m and stay open until 4a.m you will find a lot of people here every night and I assure you that you will have fun.
No matter what day of the week in St. Maarten every night is a party and it doesn't matter what you are into because St. Maarten has it all.

These are a couple but there are literally hundreds of nice restaurants and nightclubs in St. Maarten.

Casinos .
If you are one those people that enjoy gambling there are a lot of Casinos on this Island and is one of the biggest money revenues. Some are nicer than others these are just a couple of the nice ones.

Casino Royale.
By far the most popular and famous Casino, and for good reason, they have every type of slot machine and table games including blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Poker (Texas hold'em and five card draw), a one stop casino with everything in it, opens mid-day until 4a.m.
Located in Maho across from Sopranos.

Princess Casino.
Located in the Port de Plaisance resort this is one of the largest casinos and very popular especially with the locals. They have most everything from slots to tables and on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday they have Poker Texas Hold'em tournaments for different buy-in prices. Slots open at 1p.m and tables open after 5p.m.

Coliseum Casino.
In the center of Philipsburg this casino has poker tournaments daily and is a happening place with a lot of tourist and locals enjoying themselves daily. Check it out when you are in Philipsburg and you won't be disappointed.
