Most Spanish wines are produced in Spain due to the large variety of grapes they have growing in many of the vineyards in France. Spain is the 3rd largest producer of wine in the world because they have over 600 different types of grapes, even though they really only use 20 different types of grapes for the most part. Some of these grapes are tempraillo, Garancha, Airen, Parellada, and Monastrell.

If you're a wine connoisseur and have a passion for wines from different countries, you'll definitely want to try out some great Spanish wines. Whether you're going to be sipping on some Spanish wines in the US, or you are making a trip to Spain, you'll want to know which ones to taste.

Here is a guide to the top Spanish wines:

Ramon Bilbao Crianza - This $11.00 dollar bottle of wine is a dark purple colored wine. This wine is known for its strong berry and plum taste. There is also a hint of chocolate found in this wine as well. Even though this wine is very thick and is meant to be sipped slowly, it's very smooth and easy to drink. From the second you pop the cork, you'll smell aromas of fresh fruit.

Marque de Murrieta Reserva Rioja - This medium red wine is a bit different than many other Spanish wines you'll find. Above the pungent aroma of grape, you'll also find a hint of strawberry, cherry and vanilla and you might even smell a small bit of coffee bean. This wine is very sweet and filled with flavors of red fruit and vanilla. This wine is best if served after it has aged for 3-4 years. Marque de Murrieta goes best when served with lamb, ham and other sauces rich in taste. You can purchase this bottle of wine for around $21.00 dollars.

Muga Torre Muga - For a bit of pricier taste, for around $40.00 dollars or more depending on the age of the wine, you will be able to taste some amazing flavors such as black fruits including blueberries and blackberries which make this wine a deep red. Muga is on the stronger side and gives off strong aromas like smoke, vanilla, blackberries and a hint of an earthy scent. This wine is best accompanied by a beef dinner.

Bodegas Breton Lorinon Crianza - This wine is a very dark red color and has a unique scent of old cedar wood with a hint of cherry. The aroma is very strong and can be smelled almost immediately after the cork has been removed. The first tastes you experience are well balanced between a very juicy fruit flavor of black cherry and the taste of cedar. The wine is pretty dry and could actually be compared to an American Zinfandel wine. Although this wine is red, it is paired wonderfully with pasta and red sauce. You can find a bottle of Bodegas Breton Lorinon Crianza for around $12.00 dollars.

Rodai - Rodai is a dark red wine with lots of dark fruity flavors. There are strong aromas such as plum and cherries to accompany the wonderful taste you will experience with this wine. Rodai is moderately thick and pairs well with red meats. You can find a bottle of Rodai for around $15.00 dollars.
