A Guide to Types of Spyware and Programs to Eliminate Them
Malware is a general word that is used for trojans, viruses, spyware, adware, or other programs that are harmful to your computer. Spyware and adware are the most infamous of these malware infections and are extremely common. Adware is well known. It's a software that places itself on your computer and forces advertisements to pop up on your computer screen.They can also force your computer to do actions without your knowledge, such as spamming people with ads. These pop ups generally drive people absolutely bonkers and can make the Internet completely unusable for many casual users. Spyware is a very malicious software that places itself on your computer and sends information to advertisers such as what websites you go to, what keystrokes you've hit, and the programs you've had open. Pretty much any information that is on your computer can possibly be made available by spyware. Very very dangerous software that should be removed immediately.
And most of the time, one program will not be nearly enough to defend you against infections. Here's a list of valuable programs to keep your computer clean and performing well.
1) Ad-aware - A general spyware search.
2) Spybot - Also a general spyware search. This finds things that Ad-aware does not and vice versa.
3) Cwshredder - Searches for an infection called ''CoolWebSearch'' that is notoriously hard to eliminate.
4) CCleaner - This program cleans your computer of all it's disposable junk. If you've never used this program before and your computer is decently old, you will probably find *gigs* of data ready to be cleaned.
5) Malwarebytes' anti-malware - Great program that finds malware infections that others do not. It is upgraded frequently and scans moderately fast.
6) Virtumundobegone - Designed to eliminate the pesky Virtumonde trojan, which is infamous in it's ability to stay on your computer no matter what you do to it.
7) Vundofix - Also designed to eliminate Virtumonde.
8) Combofix - The absolute last resort. This program will most assuredly eliminate any problems on your computer. *However*, this is not a program to be designed by people who aren't professionals. It is a simple scan program, but if you interrupt CF's process in any way it can be fatal to your computer. Use with caution and have patience. Once again, an absolute last resort if you cannot clean your computer with the other 7 programs.
Final - Remember, always update your file detections to ensure you're getting the best protection against infections!
