A Guide to Visiting Thorpe Park in England

Denise Larkin
Thorpe Park is a huge theme park in Surrey, England. It was built in 1979 and has been a success ever since. It is a popular theme park to visit for many families for a day out or even for a short break away. It is owned by The Tussauds Group who also own Chessington World of Adventures and Alton Towers.

What is There to See and Do at Thorpe Park

At Thorpe Park there is so much to see and do. There are many thrilling rides to enjoy and older children will love it even more if they like fast paced rides that get the adrenaline up and running. Rides like the Slammer will take your breath away and the Stealth ride will thrill you even more. The roller coasters are great too. There is the new ride as of 2009 called Saw. This ride is a 100 degree drop that will shock your system. In 2010 the latest opening of SAW: Alive Maze was the new addition to Thorpe Park. This horrifying maze of the movie SAW is a thrilling attraction to enjoy if you like being spooked.

For 2011, there will be a new ride in Thorpe Park called Storm Surge. The new ride is a water ride of 19.4 metres high and will appeal all those of 16 to 34 years old. This ride came from the now closed Cypress Gardens in the USA. There are other water rides like Tidal Wave in Thorpe Park that has been interesting to many visitors and has been a huge success in the past.

No matter what changes Thorpe Park brings, it will still continue to be a great theme park for many visitors.

How to Get to Thorpe Park

To get to Thorpe Park you can travel by train from Waterloo Station to Staines Railway Station. There is around five trains per hour running from Waterloo Station. From Staines, there is the 950 Shuttle link that runs to Thorpe Park every 15 to 20 minutes.

Driving to Thorpe Park is easy enough via the M25 motorway. There are plenty of parking spaces at Thorpe Park too.

Tickets for Thorpe Park

It is cheaper to buy tickets online in advance from Thorpe Park's website. Prices are £27.60 for 12 years and over per person including adults. This is a £12 saving if tickets are bought online rather than on the day. For children 11 and under it is £24.00 per person. There is a saving of £2.40 from buying at the park on the day. For a family of four it is £96 per family, which gives a saving of £9.60 when bought online. Open tickets can be purchased online and there are discounted group tickets that can be purchased online too.

Opening Times for Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park is closed right now and will open again from March 2011 through to November 2011. The park opens from 10 am to 5pm earlier in the year but July and August it can stay open until 8 pm.

So, book Thorpe Park tickets for this year and have a great day out with the family or your friends!
