Deciding When to Go:
The most important choice to make is when to go. The best time is after midnight when many people are at home in bed or out with their friends. From midnight to sunrise, you may find some strange people who will intrigue the imagination, but the crowds will be at their lowest point of the shopping day.
If you are unable to go at night, then the next option is to go on Sunday morning. There are still crowds you must deal with as you look around the store, but their numbers are far less than they will be when the local churches let out of their morning meetings. Going to Wal-Mart at any time other than the two listed can quickly become an aggravating experience.
Know What You Want:
Some people want to spend their day wandering the aisles at Wal-Mart, casually strolling through the store, ignoring those around them. The truth is that once you have been to a Wal-Mart, you have been to them all. While you may find minor differences as you travel across the country to different Wal-Marts, the main layout and setup of the stores are all the same, food on one side and everything else on the opposite side. Products will differ based on regional tastes, but many items will be the same in every store you visit.
So when you decide to make the trip to Wal-Mart, know what you want before you go to the store. Write down a list or memorize want you need, but know before you go. Do not wait until you get to the store to wander the aisles, looking for just anything. The longer you are in the store the more time you have to spend money needlessly. You will only end up being one of the people who stand in the way of other who already know what they want or need.
The Beauty of Self Checkouts:
Some Wal-Mart shoppers are afraid of the retail world's latest idea to speed up checking out. The introduction of self checkouts to places like Wal-Mart has been a blessing to consumers. No longer will customers have to wait on someone to scan or key in all their purchases. Now, if checking out is taking forever, the customer has nobody to blame but themselves.
Shoppers should embrace the speed of a self checkout. It not only puts the customer in charge, but let's shoppers see that scanning barcodes is not always easy. For some, the checkouts are a hindrance and they would rather stick to having someone else ring up their purchases. For those who do not want to wait around on someone else, use the self checkout and speed up the process.
Hopefully the information above will be useful. Wal-Mart shoppers everywhere should keep in mind the other people who will be shopping alongside them during their next visit to Wal-Mart. Try not to be the inconsiderate customer who stops in front of others or refuses to move when others need to get by. Everyone has the same right to be shopping at Wal-Mart, so show a little consideration the next time a fellow shopper needs to pass.
