A Haitian Host Famiy is Urgently Needed for a 12 Year Old Earthquake Survivor
A 12 Year Old Earthquake Survivor with Medical Needs Seeks a Host Family in the Asheville, NC Area
The 12 year old is Judeline, and a survivor of the January 12th earthquake in Haiti. Judeline lost her left leg and has severe damage to her right arm. The doctor and his wife will try to bring Judeline and her mother to Asheville for her medical care.
A Haitian family will be needed for approximately two months to help as interpreters and help with transportation. The host family will be paid for their assistance. This need has been brought to Charlotte's attention by Sabine Guerrier.
Due to the medical issues a host family in or near Asheville is preferred. Please consider forwarding this information to others so a host family will be found quickly.
The physician involved in Judeline's case traveled to Haiti recently and operated on Judeline while in Haiti. Judeline is one of the many people found trapped under a building following the earthquake in Haiti.
Several groups in the Charlotte area have assisted in donating time and money to help with the health needs of those in Haiti. Much more needs to be done and donations are still being accepted for Haiti by the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Haitian Heritage and Friends of Haiti, and the Samaritan's purse.
Anyone qualified to be a host family or with interest in helping, please contact Sabine Guerrier at 704 890-9903. Ms. Guerrier is the President of Haitian Heritage and Friends of Haiti. Please use the link titled Haiti below to view this group's website and learn more about the work they are doing and view photos of recent relief efforts.
