A Halloween Poem to Rattle Your Bones

A Scary Witch's Brew

Karen Curley
Goblins and witches and zombies just might,

Snatch you at midnight on Halloween night.

Beware the black cat and the vampire bat

That come luring you to a witch's vat.

Bubbling and boiling in the cold moonlight,

The pot brews a witch's scary delight.

Can you escape her? Can you elude her

Before she slices your nose and finger?

Hustle and bustle and scurry from sight.

Away from the pot, away from your plight.

Rip off your costume and scary black hat

And sneak back home like a stalking bobcat.

Run to the safety of your own front door.

Escaping the witch's cauldron of gore.

From outside, the howls and screeches ignore.

Enjoy your Halloween candy galore.
