A Quick and Easy Halloween Treat that Avoids Many Common Food Allergies
Halloween Marshmallow Treats
1/4 cup margarine or other vegan butter alternative
4 cups marshmallows, vegan marshmallows, or marshmallow creme
5 cups of your favorite gluten free cereal
1 cup dark chocolate chips
non stick cooking spray or suitable replacement
any other small candies that your child is not allergic to for garnish, ie mini dark chocolate chips, skittles, etc
First you will need to prepare the place you will be making your treats, a cookie sheet, or wax paper directly on the counter tops will work fine once a light misting of nonstick cooking spray is applied. Then you will want to get out any seasonal cookie cutters you have on hand for decorating your treats. Once your preparation area is complete, melt the margarine in a large saucepan over med heat. Stir while your butter alternative is melting to prevent it from browning. Once the Margarine is melted slowly stir in your marshmallows or marshmallow creme. Once the marshmallows are melted and completely mixed with your margarine stir in your cereal one cup at a time.
Then carefully spoon the whole concoction onto your prepared nonstick space. Lightly spray your hands with cooking spray and press the mixture flat. Once the mixture is flat melt the chocolate chips in the microwave, stir chips every twenty to thirty seconds until smooth. Then take a fork, dip the fork into the chocolate and drizzle over treats. you can make hair, eyes, or just squiggles. Now the finishing touches, use any small candies left to decorate the treats. Then either cut into one inch squares or use Halloween themed cookie cutters to cut the treats into extra special Halloween treats. Then simply hand out and enjoy!
