Lexington, KY 40502
United States of America
The first haunted spot is the Campbell House Inn, a haunted hotel in the city. According to the stories told, a dark spot on the stairs marks the spot where a woman was brutally murdered and despite the owners best efforts, the stain won't go away. There's also a haunted room on the third story where another woman was killed.
Lexington also has a few haunted houses such as the Hunt-Morgan House where former owners still roam and the Don Young Farm House. Supposedly a man who died there during the 19th century haunts the building and people have heard the sound of a car pulling into the driveway, only to discover that no one and nothing is there.
There's also the haunted Loudoun House. This 1852 house is haunted by the ghost of women dressed in Victorian clothing and a black cat. Visitors also smell the scent of a flowery perfume and hear people talking and music playing at night.
There's even a haunted hospital in the city, the Leestown Division VA Hospital. There are many ghosts haunting this hospital and people sometimes claim to hear someone moaning or screaming on the property. There are also stories of apparitions spotted on the property and electrical appliances that turn off and on.
Of course Lexington also has to have a haunted cemetery. The Lexington Cemetery is supposedly haunted by a dark and sinister force. Visitors claim to see a dark spot hovering near a mausoleum and feel odd emotions coming from one specific tomb.
There are also several ghosts at the Transylvania University in Lexington. One ghost is that of a former student who killed himself. Some students claim to see the boy sitting in his room at night, the same room where he committed suicide. The Founder's Cabin is also supposedly haunted, this time by the founder who cursed the cabin and the school. Many people claim that the story was an urban legend passed down from upperclassmen to new students.
Lastly is the haunted Theatre on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington. Students working there late at night claim to feel someone watching them or hear weird noises. There are also stories that the ghost of a man wanders through the theater after closing. Of course no one knows if this stories are real or if they're just stories...

Post a CommentMy husband and I stayed at the Campbell House last week. We were in Lexington for the races at Keeneland. I'm a complete skeptic but there was something going on at that place. All during the night I was awakened by the sound of slamming doors on our hall, although I never saw any other people staying on our hall. And this was between 3:00 - 4:30 in the morning! Then I find out later by some of the employees that the place is supposedly very haunted. My husband heard it too and he just assumed it was people leaving but not at that time in the morning. Plus, like I say,the hotel was only half full and we were on a back hallway where I never saw any people!!!
