Hot and humid;
The heavy clouds hang;
Haziness caused;
By another summer day;
Objects swim before me;
Water stings my eyes;
My clothes are saturated;
My muscles ache in protest;
As I go about my daily chores;
And to my workplace;
There is no relief tonight;
Not until later in the evening;
Home and a cool shower;
Is all that I can think about;
Meanwhile, the thunder rolls;
And a healing rain falls down;
Washing away the grittiness;
Of the last seven days;
Soap and water washes away dirt;
From my tired and weary body;
As water from the heavens;
Cleanses the earth;
Leaving behind cool air;
Blowing through my window fan;
Guaranteed to me at last;
A night of restful sleep

Beautiful!!
Lovely poem, hate the rain but we need it!!!!!!
Great poem. I know how you feel, I'm miserable here in Texas. I commented to my mom this morning that maybe we should move to like Alaska or somewhere to get away from the heat. Then later on the way home from church I said, I hope it feels like the arctic in the house due to air conditioning. I'd rather be too cold than too hot any day.
You are a gifted poet.........another nice poem !
