Atkins Diet. This diet plan allows us to eat unlimited amounts of protein-rich and fatty foods, like meat, beans, and egg while limiting the amounts of food that are rich in carbohydrates, like bread, rice, and pasta. According to Dr. Robert Atkins, consuming high levels of carbohydrates increases insulin, resulting to a person getting hungry easily and rapidly gaining weight.
Juice Fasting. Fruit and vegetable juices are good for losing weight, gaining energy, and detoxifying the toxins in our body usually caused by indigestion and harmful environmental harmful substances. With this diet, only pure fruit or vegetable juice diluted with water should be consumed. How pure? As much as possible, no added preservatives. The maximum number of days juice fasting should be done is from two to five days. This is not a long-term weight loss option. It is more like a detoxifying diet, not a weight loss diet.
Picture Perfect. This is based on Dr. Shapiro's Food Awareness Training (FAT) approach, where no "diet plan" is followed. This type of dieting is more like a conditioning process. Pictures of real food are used to show simple but effective ways to decrease the calorie intake while increasing the amount of foods. In this diet, there is no forbidden food, no timing of meals, and no calorie-counting. All you have to do to make the right food choices, increasing exercise, and change your emotional eating habits.
Pritikin Diet. This is a low-fat, vegetarian type of diet. Only whole grain, fruits, and vegetables are allowed to be eaten. This helps in treating and improving cardiovascular health. Processed food like pasta, white bread, and animal proteins are eliminated in this diet. No fatty foods are allowed except for the "healthy" fats which are high in omega-3 fatty acids. Even then, these fats are taken at a limited amount. Weight loss is just an additional effect in this diet because the main objective is to treat cardiovascular problems.
Scarsdale Diet. The concept of this diet is to lose one pound at a time everyday with a plan based on chemical reactions. Snacking is strictly prohibited. This usually lasts for seven to fourteen days with a plan that monitors the types of food to be eaten at every meal of the day. The meal must include fruits, vegetables, protein-rich food; and low in carbohydrates and fat. This was popular during the 1970's.
These are just a few of the types of dieting. There are still more of them and you can choose which one is perfect for you and your body. All of these are scientifically tested and evaluated by top dieticians and food experts.
