A Hispter's Manifesto

Why Everything Sucks

James Schlarmann
You know what I like? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I'm really just too cool to like anything, well with any kind of earnest emotion or passion. There's no musical act, movie, or TV show I actually enjoy. I just think it's all not up to my own standards of quality.

It actually irritates me when I see successful creative people succeed. Who the "F" are they, to fulfill their aspirations and dreams? How dare they achieve any of their life's goals. There's no art form that isn't just a cliche of itself. Everything has already been done and seen and heard and sung.

I don't find anything inspiring, or original, or just plain good. If someone new bursts onto the scene, I'm immediately turned off by and suspicious of their intentions, background and artistic integrity. The only reason artists succeed anymore is because either their mommies and daddies have spent thousands to put them into camps, workshops and to grease up producers, or because they are incredibly stupid and lucky. No one actually has any talent, that's for sure.

Sure, every once in a very rare while I'll actually find a new artist that I can support. However, as soon as I get wind of anyone else on the face of the Earth liking the same artist, they are immediately dead to me. After all, popularity is a sure sign of being a sell-out.

Oh, before I forget, don't forget to follow me on Twitter, friend me on Facebook, and check out my tumblr for updates on my blog about 1980s vintage t-shirts.

Cynicism and a general apathy unfortunately have permeated nearly every bit of society...It's sad when people can't just enjoy things because they're fun.

Right, so as long as something is unpopular and unsuccessful it is true, and as soon as someone succeeds, he or she has sold his integrity. I know a lot of people who think this way. Very good.
