A Holiday In Camden County, NJ, with the Kids

DeeDee
Camden County, NJ, has so many attractions year around that it is no surprise that there are plenty of activities to do at Christmas time. Bundle up the kids and head on out for a day of fun. Kids of all ages will love this holiday agenda.

Visit the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ, for Christmas spirit and a little underwater education. You can spend the entire day viewing various displays and hands-on exhibits before taking the Polar ExpressTM 4D movie experience. The 20 minute movie is based on the film released a few years ago by Warner Bros. It tells the story of a young boy who took a ride to the North Pole and enjoyed a ride of self-discovery while he was gone. The cost of the movie is not included in general admission. After the movie, watch as Santa Claus Scuba dives into a tank filled with sharks, sting rays, and thousands of other fish. If that's not enough, involve your child in a scavenger hunt for prizes, storytelling of "Twas the Night Before Fishmas," and have their picture taken with Scuba Santa or an Aquarium elf.

As the sun goes down and it gets dark, the Camden Children's Garden, just near the Aquarium, lights up. Over 4.5 acres of magical lights welcome you with over 100,000 lights, animated light sculptures and model trains. There's so much to see and do. Start in the Philadelphia Eagles Four Season Butterfly House to see exotic colorful butterflies from around the world. Next run off to meet Santa Claus and his elves and visit Plaza de Aibonito, a heated tropical holiday exhibit. And a visit wouldn't be complete with a ride on the carousel, the Butterfly Spring ride or the express train ride. (Rides are an additional fee).

Take the kids to show them the "reason for the season" at Laurel Hill Bible Church in Clementon, NJ. The church will present a live walk-through nativity scene comprised of over 100 people depicting indoor and outdoor scenes, musical presentations, and live animals. 30 minute tours depart every 1/2 an hour from 6:30 - 9:30 pm. Visits are free of charge.

A night at the movies
Fred Claus, a light hearted, movie free of potty-mouth language is about Fred Claus, Santa Claus' brother who is the black sheep of the family.
